JPP feels no pressure at weigh-in: Giants defensive end Jason Pierre-Paul brushed off concerns raised by head coach Tom Coughlin that he was overweight last year. He also paid no mind to concerns about his effort, saying he put pressure on the quarterback "24/7." "My numbers didn't show for it but whenever I stepped on that field everybody knew that Jason Pierre-Paul was dominating that tackle or that tight end or playing the running game," he said according to the New York Daily News. When it came to his weight, "[i]t never bothered me. People I know, they got mad and upset, but there's nothing to get upset about. He's my head coach. He saw in his eyes that I was overweight. But today, standing here today, I'm the same size I was last year." (Updated 4/17/13) |

| Fantasy Analysis |
Pierre-Paul's production plummeted in 2012 as he had 20 fewer tackles and 10 fewer sacks than he did in 2011. Still, he's got plenty of potential in the Giants' defense and a kick in the pants from Coughlin could push him to get in shape and perform better. We'd roll the dice on him as a Top 15 Fantasy DL worth a mid-round pick. (Updated 4/17/13). |
| Jason Pierre-Paul was a dominant force in 2011, but he slowed down in 2012 and will look for a rebound this season. Pierre-Paul went from 16.5 sacks in 2011 to go with 86 total tackles to 6.5 sacks and 66 total tackles last year. We expect Pierre-Paul to rebound and post double digits in sacks again, and hopefully his tackle total will also rise. He remains a No. 1 defensive lineman in IDP leagues, and he's worth drafting with a mid-round pick. (Updated 4/26/13) |
