Titans T Taylor Lewan ready to show and prove in second year

by Elliott Smith | Staff Writer
(5/10/15) After an up-and-down rookie campaign that saw him break into the starting lineup only to miss the last handful of games with an injury, Titans tackle Taylor Lewan is ready to make an impact in his second season, per The Tennessean.

Lewan will enter the season as the team's starting left tackle, and he will have to improve his play both in order to protect likely starter Marcus Mariota and lift a run game that rushed for 100 yards or less in 12 games.

"I know what to expect now in year two," Lewan said. "I know the things I have to do to be successful, at least more than what I did last year. My job isn't necessarily telling guys what to do, but try and win every single sprint, try and lift the most weight, do the best in my blocking techniques. If anybody wants to be a leader, I think that is where you start."

Titans' Lewan says QB Mettenberger still views himself as starter

by Ted Leshinski | Staff Writer
(5/4/15) Even though the Titans drafted quarterback Marcus Mariota with the second-overall pick, tackle Taylor Lewan said that QB Zach Mettenberger, who started six games last season as a rookie, still regards himself as the starter, reports the Tennessean.com.

"That is the mentality that Zach has. He thinks of himself as a starter, and the guys in the locker room do also," Lewan said. "I don't think he is going to give it up easily,"
Lewan was the Titans' first-round pick in last year's draft.

Titans reveal Week 17 inactives

by Larry Hartstein | Senior Analyst
(12/28/14) The Titans declared quarterback Zach Mettenberger (shoulder), defensive back Jemea Thomas, linebacker Dontay Moch, offensive tackles Taylor Lewan (ankle) and Terren Jones (concussion), wideout Rico Richardson and defensive end Ropati Pitoitua inactive for Sunday's game against the Colts.

Quarterback Charlie Whitehurst will make his second straight start.

Zaviar Gooden only probable on Titans' Week 17 injury report

by Igor Mello | CBSSports.com
(12/26/14) Titans linebacker Zaviar Gooden (hamstring) was the only player on Tennessee's final injury report listed as probable for Sunday's season finale against the Colts.

Defensive tackle Sammie Lee Hill (foot), tackle Terren Jones (concussion) tackle Byron Stingily (ankle), linebacker Kamerion Wimbley (hamstring), tackle Taylor Lewan (ankle) and quarterback Zach Mettenberger (shoulder) were labeled as questionable.

According to the Tennessean, Lewan and Mettenberger aren't expected to play. Coach Ken Whisenhunt did not rule out the possibility of dressing Mettenberger as an emergency option.

by Chris Cwik | CBSSports.com
(12/18/14) The Titans have listed QB Zach Mettenberger, DB Jemea Thomas, LB Zaviar Gooden, LB Dontay Moch, OT Terren Jones, OT Taylor Lewan and DL Mike Martin as inactive Week 16 against the Jaguars.

Both Mettenberger and Lewan were listed as doubtful heading into the contest. Neither was expected to take the field. Gooden was listed as questionable due to a hamstring injury. The other four players listed are healthy scratches.
