Playing time for Marlon Brown, Jacoby Jones heading in different direction
by Igor Mello | CBSSports.com
(9/29/14) Ravens wide receiver Marlon Brown is starting to see his role increase while Jacoby Jones is trending downward in terms of production, according to the Baltimore Sun on Monday.

Brown, who only earned three snaps in Week 2 against the Steelers, totaled 23 in Week 3 and a season-high 31 snaps on offense in a Week 4 win over the Panthers. He caught all three passes thrown to his for 31 yards.

Meanwhile, Jones, who signed a four-year $12.055 million contract in the offseason, dropped the only pass thrown in his direction on Sunday. He played just seven offensive snaps against Carolina.

Ravens to use committee approach at tight end
by Larry Hartstein | CBSSports.com
(9/23/14) With tight end Dennis Pitta out for the season following hip surgery, the Ravens will use a committee to replace him, reports ESPN.com. The website expects tight end Owen Daniels, fullback Kyle Juszczyk and receiver Marlon Brown to assume larger roles in Pitta's absence.

Daniels is in his ninth season with offensive coordinator Gary Kubiak, and "he's also gained the trust of Joe Flacco with his toughness over the middle," the report said. But Daniels doesn't gain much separation anymore and has missed 26 games over the past five seasons, the website added.

Two Ravens receivers help effort in Week 3 triumph
by Marty Gitlin | CBSSports.com
(9/21/14) Marlon Brown caught a pass for 15 yards as the bigger contributor among the two minor ones that helped the Ravens overcome Cleveland on Sunday.

Also pitching in was tight end Owen Daniels with a reception for eight yards.

Ravens have options at receiver
by Jamey Eisenberg | Senior Fantasy Writer
(3/25/14) Ravens coach John Harbaugh said Tuesday at the NFL owners meetings that Marlon Brown still has a chance to be a quality playmaker even though the team added Steve Smith this offseason and brought back Jacoby Jones. Torrey Smith is also there as the No. 1 receiver.

"He's competing for a starting spot," Harbaugh said. "It's not a two-receiver league anymore. It’s not like you’ve got your two starters and then your No. 3 guy is a slot receiver. That’s the way that people kind of want to label it. It’s just more complex than that. And with Jacoby, you’ve got four guys right there that are going to play a lot of football. And one thing I think (offensive coordinator) coach (Gary) Kubiak does a great job of is he understands how to put guys in a position to play to their strengths. He knows Jacoby very well, and Jacoby has only gotten better since he's been here. He's matured as a player and a person. Steve Smith has certain things that he does extremely well. So does Marlon Brown, and Marlon's going to obviously, I would think, make leaps and bounds from Year 1 to Year 2. ... Gary’s got some guys that he’s excited to work with, so I can't wait to see how he uses them."

Joe Flacco, receivers to get early start
by Larry Hartstein | CBSSports.com
(3/25/14) Ravens quarterback Joe Flacco will work out with his receivers before the team's offseason program.

"Joe has communicated that through texts, and Torrey [Smith] has told me that they have a session planned and are trying to work out the dates," coach John Harbaugh said at the NFL owners meetings. "I'll be looking forward to seeing how it goes. It is important. It's big."

Flacco's receiving corps includes Torrey Smith, Steve Smith, Marlon Brown, Jacoby Jones and tight end Dennis Pitta. Flacco threw 19 touchdowns and a career-high 22 interceptions last year.
