49ers place Marcus Lattimore on reserve/NFI list
by R.J. White | CBSSports.com
(8/25/14) The 49ers have placed running back Marcus Lattimore on the reserve/NFI list, ESPN reports. Lattimore will miss the first six games of the season before being eligible to return.
Marcus Lattimore not expected to be ready for season opener
by Larry Hartstein | CBSSports.com
(8/18/14) 49ers running back Marcus Lattimore should be activated from the non-football injury list "sometime during the season," reports ESPN. Lattimore is coming back from a devastating knee injury he suffered at South Carolina in 2012.
Harbaugh: Marcus Lattimore 'quite not there yet'
by Igor Mello | CBSSports.com
(8/15/14) 49ers coach Jim Harbaugh said "there's been gains" with the recovery process of running back Marcus Lattimore, but he's "quite not there yet," according to the Sacramento Bee on Friday.

Lattimore is attempting to return from a horrific knee injury he suffered in his final year at South Carolina in 2012. He is on the non-football injury list and remains without a timetable.

GM: Marcus Lattimore 'close' to practicing
by Larry Hartstein | CBSSports.com
(7/27/14) 49ers general manager Trent Baalke said running back Marcus Lattimore has not encountered a setback in his return from reconstructive knee surgery and is "close" to be activated, reports the Sacramento Bee. Baalke didn't provide a more specific timetable.

"He's coming off, as we all know, a horrific injury," Baalke told the paper. "And we want to make sure, as does he, that he's 100 percent mentally and physically ready to go to help this football team, and to give himself the best chance to compete at a high level. ... But as far as setbacks, no."

Lattimore is on the non-football injury list, meaning he's sidelined due to the 2012 injury he sustained in college. Baalke said the issue is partly mental.

"There's a mental hurdle and a physical hurdle you've got to overcome," he said. "And he's close. How close? That remains to be seen."

Asked how the team will know when Lattimore has cleared those hurdles, Baalke replied: "I think the players tell you. Just like Michael Crabtree last year when he was coming back (from an Achilles' tendon tear). It really came down to when he believed in his mind he was ready to go. You can't tell them how they feel. As a player, they know when they're ready."

Marcus Lattimore on NFI list with two injuries
by Larry Hartstein | CBSSports.com
(7/24/14) 49ers coach Jim Harbaugh said running back Marcus Lattimore is starting camp on the non-football injury list because that's what doctors and trainers recommended, reports the Sacramento Bee.

Asked if the problem was Lattimore's surgically reconstructed knee or the hamstring strain he suffered in the spring, Harbaugh replied, "A combination of the two." Harbaugh declined to elaborate.

Other reports indicate Lattimore is not too far away from being ready. He could be activated at any time.
