Marcus Lattimore's contract pushed another year forward
by Dave Richard | Senior Fantasy Writer
(4/14/14) Because Marcus Lattimore didn't play in 2013, his contract "tolled" forward a year, meaning he's under a deal for four years instead of the three years others in his rookie class signed and played on already. Lattimore's deal with the 49ers now extends through the 2017 season according to Comcast Sportsnet.
Harbaugh: Marcus Lattimore can make impact
by Jamey Eisenberg | Senior Fantasy Writer
(3/26/14) 49ers coach Jim Harbaugh said Wednesday at the NFL owners meeting that running back Marcus Lattimore can make an impact in 2014.

Lattimore missed his rookie season in 2013 after suffering a devestating knee injury in college at South Carolina, but Harbaugh said his rehab is going well.

"I haven't seen him in about a month or so since the end of the season, and he was out there training for a little bit. He looked good," Harbaugh said. "I think he’s back in South Carolina, and all reports are he's hitting it really hard. He's very excited to get started."

Harbaugh said Lattimore can help the 49ers improve this season.

"We'll wait and see, but he's factored in right now. (He) has the chance to make a big impact this year. That could be a big leap for our team."

Marcus Lattimore says he's nearing 100 percent
by Larry Hartstein | CBSSports.com
(2/25/14) 49ers running back Marcus Lattimore, who suffered two devastating knee injuries in college and sat out his rookie year in the NFL, told the Associated Press he's close to 100 percent.

"The left knee, it feels like nothing ever happened," Lattimore said. "The right knee, it feels great. Both feel balanced. I've got my speed and I rarely get any soreness" after workouts.

Lattimore can't wait for April 21, the start of offseason workouts. The 2013 fourth-round pick wants to vindicate the 49ers for their patience with him.

"I was just so grateful they believed in what I could do," Lattimore said.

Marcus Lattimore felt he could have played in December
by Larry Hartstein | CBSSports.com
(1/22/14) 49ers running back Marcus Lattimore said his surgically-reconstructed knee felt good enough that he could have played in December, but the rookie respects the team's long-term plans for him, reports the team's website. Lattimore said he spent the year rehabbing and learning from running backs coach Tom Rathman and veteran starter Frank Gore.

“Mentally was the biggest thing for me, understanding the offense,” Lattimore said. “They showed me how to play the game, honestly. I’m real excited about next year.”

Marcus Lattimore to vie for playing time in 49ers' backfield
by Larry Hartstein | CBSSports.com
(1/21/14) 49ers coach Jim Harbaugh said running back Marcus Lattimore, who's rehabbing from a devastating knee injury, will be ready for the offseason program and will vie for a job in the 2014 backfield, reports the Sacramento Bee.

Lattimore will compete with Frank Gore, Kendall Hunter, LaMichael James and possibly Jewel Hampton, a practice squad member, for playing time next season, the report said.
