T.J. Jones feels he is close to being activated
by Michael Hurcomb | CBSSports.com
(8/14/14) Lions rookie wide receiver T.J. Jones (shoulder) said he hopes to get cleared to come off the PUP list in the coming days and looks forward to contributing on offense in 2014, according to the Detroit Free Press.

"I’m feeling good," Jones said after practice Wednesday. "I’m getting healthier, stronger every week. It’s just a waiting game now. Just kind of got to wait it out and see when the coaching staff and I both feel comfortable enough to send me out there 100 percent."

Jones, who underwent arthroscopic surgery on his right shoulder in June, said he has had full range of motion for more than a month. He is back to catching passes, but he needs the nerves in his arm to fully heal before he's cleared to return.

"It’s just the doctor’s assessment," Jones said. "They know I’m going to say, regardless of how I feel, that I’m feeling good, because I want to get back out there. So they’re going to take the medical angle. And in their opinion, if they feel I can take a hit from a (Ndamukong) Suh or a (Stephen Tulloch) and get back up and not re-injure myself, then they’re going to be happy to send me back out there. But if they don’t feel comfortable, then we’re going to have to keep waiting."

Lions will be down three players in preseason opener
