Three Browns defenders receive red light for Week 7 game

by Marty Gitlin | CBSSports.com
(10/17/14) The Browns will continue to be missing several key defensive pieces Sunday in Jacksonville. Cornerback K'Waun Williams (concussion) and defensive linemen Phil Taylor (knee) and Billy Winn (quad) have all been ruled out.

A nagging back ailment might also sideline outside linebacker Paul Kruger while interior lineman Ahtyba Rubin (ankle) is considered questionable as well.

by Marty Gitlin | CBSSports.com
(10/12/14) Browns defensive linemen Ahtyba Rubin (ankle), Phil Taylor (knee) and Billy Winn (quad) headline the inactive list issued Sunday for their game against Pittsburgh. They are the lone injured inactives.

The healthy scratches are running back Terrance West, tight end Gerell Robinson, cornerback Pierre Desir and wideout Rodney Smith.

Browns DTs Ahtyba Rubin, Phil Taylor both out Sunday

by Marty Gitlin | CBSSports.com
(10/12/14) Browns defensive tackles Phil Taylor and Ahtyba Rubin have both been given the red light Sunday against visiting Pittsburgh. The former has a knee injury while Rubin is out with an ankle injury sustained Friday. He had been deemed questionable.

Report: Browns DE Phil Taylor underwent knee procedure

by Larry Hartstein | CBSSports.com
(10/8/14) Browns starting defensive end Phillip Taylor "underwent a minor scope procedure on his knee" and likely will miss "at least a few games," reports the Cleveland Plain Dealer. Taylor injured his knee in the first half of the Week 5 win at Tennessee.

He has seven tackles at end this season after starting 15 games at nose tackle last year.

Defensive line impressing new Browns' head coach

by Michael Hurcomb | CBSSports.com
(7/14/13) The Browns are transitioning from a 4-3 defense to a 3-4 defense, but already first-year coach Rob Chudzinski is impressed with how the defensive line is handling the transition under defensive line coach Joe Cullen, according to the team's official website.

Chudzinski also made sure to single out 2011 first-round pick Phil Taylor for his work this offseason.

"I love that group," Chudzinski said. "I think Joe Cullen is doing a great job with them. They are high-energy, high-effort guys. Their individual drills are fun to watch. They are getting after it and I love the attitude of that group.

“I’ve really been pleased with what (Taylor) has done, both from just understanding what he is doing to a technique standpoint to setting a tempo and the pace. You will see him as the first guy in line down there in the drill work, all of the things you would ask him to do."
