Seahawks WR Chris Matthews wants to prove his worth

by Elliott Smith | Staff Writer
(6/22/15) Seahawks wide receiver Chris Matthews shocked the football world during the Super Bowl when he caught four passes for more than 100 yards -- four more than he had caught in his brief NFL career.

But Matthews wants to be more than a fluke, and per NFL.com, he's worked hard to ensure that he's part of Seattle's offense throughout the season. He has a chance to potentially earn a starting role when the team holds its training camp next month.

"Last year was a lot of ups and downs for me," Matthews said. "I was just trying to figure out what was best for me. How can I fit in? The biggest thing was when I understood practice means a lot here. You practice hard, you play hard, is what a lot of people say here. I picked that up and embraced it."

(2/1/15) Seahawks wideout Chris Matthews led the team in receiving during Super Bowl 49.

Matthews didn't catch a ball during the regular season, but made up for it in this game. Matthews was consistently able to use his speed and size to out-muscle the Patriots defensive backs. He finished with four catches for 109 yards and a score during the contest.

Marshawn Lynch ready for Seahawks

by Chris Cwik | CBSSports.com
(12/28/14) Seahawks running back Marshawn Lynch is active Week 17 against the Rams.

Lynch was listed as probable due to a back injury. He's been dealing with the issue all season, but has been able to play through it.

The club will also have Tony Moeaki and Russell Okung. Both players also came into the contest listed as probable.

Chris Matthews, who was listed as questionable, will also attempt to play. He's dealing with a hamstring injury.

by Chris Cwik | CBSSports.com
(12/26/14) Seahawks running back Marshawn Lynch is listed as probable for Week 17 against the Rams.

Lynch was listed on the injury report with a back injury, but has been able to battle through the issue all season. He did not practice on Wednesday and Thursday, but was able to put in a full practice on Friday.

The team should also have Tony Moeaki and Russell Okung. Both players were listed as probable on the final injury report.

Cooper Helfet, Chris Matthews, Tharold Simon and Max Unger are listed as questionable, and will be game-time decisions.

Both Demarcus Dobbs and Jermaine Kearse have already been ruled out for the contest.
