Jets DE Sheldon Richardson won't be charged with child endangerment
|by Sean d'Oliveira | CBSSports.com|
|(7/31/15) After reviewing the evidence, the St. Charles County Prosecutor's Office won't charge Jets defensive end Sheldon Richardson with child endangerment, reports the New York Post.
"Our role is to take a look at the evidence that we know we have and say, given that, are we going to be able to prove beyond a reasonable doubt that he committed this felony?" Tim Lohmar said, the prosecuting attorney in the case told. "The plain and simple answer to you is when we had all the facts in front of us, we thought we're going to have a tough time proving this beyond a reasonable doubt."
Richardson was facing the child endangerment charge after allegedly driving as high as 143 miles per hour in mid-July with a 12-year-old in the back seat. He will face charges of resisting arrest and traffic violations, which are misdemeanors.
Jets DL Sheldon Richardson charged with resisting arrest

|(7/30/15) Less than two weeks after being suspended for four games for violating the league's substance abuse policy, Jets defensive lineman Sheldon Richardson was charged with resisting arrest and child endangerment in Missouri on Wednesday, per NFL.com.
Richardson was clocked driving as high as 143 miles per hour in mid-July with a 12-year-old in the back seat. According to the police report, Richardson turned off his headlights in an attempt to evade the police and lost control of his car at times. Police found a fully-loaded semi-automatic weapon under the seat once the stop was made.
"We are aware of the situation and are gathering information," the Jets said in a statement. "This is a pending legal matter and we will have no further comment at this time."
Jets DL Sheldon Richardson suspended four games

|(7/2/15) Jets defensive lineman Sheldon Richardson was suspended four games for violating the league's substance-abuse policy, the NFL announced Thursday.
“I apologize for letting down my family, teammates, this organization and the fans," Richardson said in a statement via the Jets, per Fox Sports. "However, words aren't enough. This is something that can only be addressed by how I handle myself from this point on. I don't want this to take away from what the team is trying to accomplish. While I won't be there at the start of the regular season, I will do whatever I can to support my teammates until I'm able to return to the field.”
Richardson, who was a 2013 first-round pick, is entering his third season in the NFL. He was the AP Defensive Rookie of the Year in 2013 and was named to the Pro Bowl in 2014.
He has totaled 84 tackles and 11 1/2 sacks in 32 career games. He also has one safety.
Jets' Sheldon Richardson: Missed OTAs for 'personal' reasons
|by Jason Butt | CBSSports.com|
|(6/9/15) Sheldon Richardson didn't expand on why he missed a chunk of the Jets' organized team activity practices this offseason.
"Personal. Nothing more, nothing less," Richardson said when asked about his absence, via ESPN.com.
Richardson took some heat from fans on Twitter after posting a tweet saying he has a "life outside of football." Richardson, however, isn't concerned what people think about his decision not to show up for part of the team's OTA practices.
"Hate me or love me, that’s just the way it goes," he said. "I’m gonna play ball regardless."
Sheldon Richardson: Muhammad Wilkerson is coming to Jets minicamp
|by Shawn Krest | CBSSports.com|
|(6/8/15) Defensive end Muhammad Wilkerson will report to Jets mandatory minicamp on Tuesday, one of his teammates told ESPN.
Defensive tackle Sheldon Richardson said that Wilkerson told him he'd be there.
Wilkerson has skipped the voluntary portion of the Jets' offseason activities due to a contract dispute.
|Sheldon Richardson has proven he's a solid pass rusher and defensive lineman in the NFL, but some off-field issues have caused some major problems. After being hit with a four-game suspension for violating the league's substance abuse policy in July, Richardson was arrested for resisting arrest, speeding and road racing later in the month. Because of the suspension and impending punishment from the arrest, there's no telling how much Richardson will play for the Jets in 2015. So even though he's a candidate for some very nice tackle totals and sacks, Fantasy owners should avoid him unless you have ample roster space. In that case, he's worth a late pick.
