De'Anthony Thomas to work as a running back?
by Dave Richard | Senior Fantasy Writer
(7/21/14) Chiefs rookie De'Anthony Thomas told the media he kept in touch with running backs coach Eric Bienemy during the team's time off, suggesting that he'll work with the running back group rather than the receivers. Thomas will compete for a role on the offense and on special teams in camp this summer.
Chiefs need to get De'Anthony Thomas touches
by Jamey Eisenberg | Senior Fantasy Writer
(6/19/14) The Chiefs could be rewarded if they can find a way to get the ball into rookie running back De'Anthony Thomas' hands 10 times a game, reports ESPN.

Thomas has missed 10 of the 16 offseason practices thus far because of NFL rules prohibiting players from participating while their college was still in session, as Oregon was until last week.

But Thomas has been around enough to flash his speed, which is "world class," according to the report. The Chiefs have used Thomas at running back, as a wide receiver and as a kickoff and punt returner.

The report says the Chiefs need to use Thomas as their return specialist "at a minimum." And on offense, they should try to get him the ball a few times every game.

De'Anthony Thomas making good impression
by Jamey Eisenberg | Senior Fantasy Writer
(6/5/14) Chiefs running backs coach Eric Bieniemy likes what he sees so far from rookie De'Anthony Thomas .

"You know what, in rookie minicamp I thought he did a great job," Bieniemy said. "Obviously when those kids come to camp, you never know what to expect. I'll tell you one thing, he blew our socks off. He was in great shape, he did an outstanding job of catching the ball, he did an outstanding job of running the ball. It was fun watching him work. I've seen him since high school, I know what he can do. It was just exciting having the opportunity to see him do it live and up close in person."

De'Anthony Thomas winds up with Chiefs
by Chris Cwik | CBSSports.com
(5/10/14) With the 124th pick in the draft, the Chiefs have selected Oregon running back De'Anthony Thomas .

Thomas compares somewhat favorably with Dexter McCluster, who the Chiefs lost in the offseason. He's raw, but dangerous with the ball in his hands. There's a good chance Thomas will play an immediate role as the team's return man. He averaged 6.2 yards per rush, and scored 8 touchdowns in 96 attempts. He's blocked by Jamaal Charles in Kansas City, but will contribute in other ways.
