Randy Moss says 'sky's the limit' for Saints WR Brandin Cooks

by Michael Hurcomb | CBSSports.com
(8/20/15) Saints wide receiver Brandin Cooks trained with seven-time Pro Bowl receiver Randy Moss for a short time during the offseason. When Moss stopped by Saints training camp on Thursday, he spoke highly of the second-year receiver.

"With (Jimmy) Graham gone, that means a lot more targets are going to be coming his way," Moss said, per NOLA.com. "Just by looking at his body, it looks like he's ready to take on that challenge. He's a good receiver. I'm not going to call him great. But the sky's the limit.

"He's in a great offense. He's got a great quarterback in Drew Brees. The sky's the limit for whatever he wants to do in this offense, and I think Sean Payton's going to put him in a position to make plays."

Saints' Brandin Cooks on being No.1 WR: 'I can do that'

by Ruben Palacios | Staff Writer
(7/31/15) Saints wide receiver Brandin Cooks is confident he can become Drew Brees' top target this season, according to Nola.com.

"No doubt about it," said Cooks when asked Friday if he could become the Saints' main weapon. "That's why I work so hard throughout the offseason. That's what I focus on, to be able to come in and help my team and ultimately be a dominant player like that.

"I definitely feel like I can do that."

Cooks finished with 53 catches for 550 yards and three touchdowns last season after playing just 10 games.

Report: Drew Brees, Brandin Cooks only Saints not on trading block

by Larry Hartstein | Senior Analyst
(3/12/15) The Saints "appear to be shopping everyone but Drew Brees and Brandin Cooks," reports ESPN's Jeremy Fowler, adding the team is undergoing a "complete retool." New Orleans traded tight end Jimmy Graham to the Seahawks and starting guard Ben Grubbs to the Chiefs.

The Saints reportedly are actively shopping wideout Kenny Stills, who caught 63 passes for 931 yards and three touchdowns last season.

Saints' Cooks: 'I can't wait to get out there and be a playmaker' in 2015

by Michael Hurcomb | CBSSports.com
(1/16/15) Saints wide receiver Brandin Cooks, who missed the final six games of his rookie season due to thumb surgery, has already been hard at work rehabbing the injury, according to FOX Sports.

"I've been cleared for three weeks," Cooks said in a telephone interview. "I've been catching balls, lifting weights and getting back into it. I'm looking forward to hitting it really hard right after the Super Bowl ends."

Cooks finished the 2014 season with 53 catches for 550 yards and three touchdowns. He also rushed for 73 yards and one touchdown.

"I feel like I had an all right season," Cooks said. "Unfortunately, I had to end my season a little short, but for the time that I played I thought I got better every game and got used to the NFL each week.

"I'm completely confident in my abilities and there's no question about it. This work that I'm going to put in during the offseason will be huge for next year. I can't wait to get out there and be a playmaker."

Marques Colston a candidate for a pay cut

by Larry Hartstein | Senior Analyst
(1/15/15) Saints wideout Marques Colston, who turns 32 in June, is scheduled to make $6.9 million in 2015 with a cap hit of $9.7 million. The New Orleans Times-Picayune says the team likely wants Colston back, but not at that price.

He could be cut if he does not accept a lower salary. Colston played in every game this season, catching 59 passes for 902 yards and five touchdowns. He struggled to separate from man coverage, and his role diminished with the emergence of rookie Brandin Cooks and second-year pro Kenny Stills.
