Dexter McCluster, Shonn Greene splitting bulk of snaps through two weeks
by Igor Mello | CBSSports.com
(9/18/14) The running back situation for the Titans remains a guessing game, as head coach Ken Whisenhunt continues to split the workload among four running backs.

Dexter McCluster dominated the backfield timeshare through two weeks, playing 52 offensive snaps to Shonn Greene's 40. However, Greene currently leads the team in rushing with 111 yards on 20 carries. McCluster has 59 yards through the ground on 13 carries, with two catches on three targets.

Bishop Sankey has only played 14 snaps this season, 10 of which came in Week 1. He has eight carries for 28 yards, which ranks third among his running mates. Although Leon Washington has played 22 snaps, he's gotten only four touches. Washington has two carries for 23 yards through two weeks.

Bishop Sankey has two carries in Week 2 loss
by Michael Hurcomb | CBSSports.com
(9/14/14) Titans rookie running back Bishop Sankey didn't have to wait until the second half Sunday against the Cowboys to get his first carry like he did in a Week 1 win at Kansas City. However, Sankey had even less of a role on offense during a 26-10 loss Week 2.

Sankey, who had six carries for 25 yards Week 1, finished with two carries for 3 yards Sunday. He had no catches in the loss. The Titans are back in action Week 3 at Cincinnati.

Titans' RB situation remains a guessing game
by Michael Hurcomb | CBSSports.com
(9/10/14) The Titans used four different running backs -- Shonn Greene, Dexter McCluster, Bishop Sankey and Leon Washington -- during a Week 1 win at Kansas City, with Greene leading the way with 71 rushing yards on 15 carries.

Though, the pecking order at running back appears to be a flexible situation heading into Week 2 against the Cowboys.

"We're going to have different personnel in and out and I think that's what's going to make this group special," McCluster said, per ESPN. "As far as me, we really don't have a set amount of carries, plays or touches. It's just kind of all how the game unfolds. It's how the game comes. With us really not knowing who's going to get in next, it keeps the defense in a frenzy, too."

Sankey didn't get his first carry until the third quarter Sunday. Coach Ken Whisenhunt said that wasn't the plan regarding the rookie running back.

"It just evolves," Whisenhunt said. "He could be in the first snap this week. It really depends on the plan and what we are doing. The thing that is important to me, it’s what he did when he went in it was how he played. I thought he did a nice job."

Titans to use four backs every week
by Larry Hartstein | CBSSports.com
(9/8/14) The Titans' official website expects coach Ken Whisenhunt to continue splitting the workload among four running backs. In the Week 1 win at Kansas City, Shonn Greene got 15 carries, Dexter McCluster nine, Bishop Sankey six and Leon Washington two.

"The number of carries will vary per week depending on the situation of the game, but it is clear that all four guys will be a part of the Titans' game plan on a weekly basis," the website said.

Bishop Sankey has quiet NFL debut
by Michael Hurcomb | CBSSports.com
(9/7/14) Titans rookie running back Bishop Sankey wasn't much of a factor in his regular-season debut during a 26-10 win Week 1 at Kansas City.

Sankey did not get his first NFL carry until a 4-yard gain at the 8:03 mark of the third quarter. The Titans were already leading 17-3 at that point. Sankey finished with six carries for 25 yards, with his longest carry going 12 yards. He had no targets in the passing game.

The Titans are back in action Week 2 vs. Dallas.
