Jaguars WR Allen Robinson finds the end zone again Week 8

by Igor Mello | CBSSports.com
(10/26/14) Jaguars wide receiver Allen Robinson found the end zone for the second consecutive game in his team's loss to Miami in Week 8.

Robinson came down with a 48-yard touchdown grab late in the fourth quarter. He was targeted 10 times and finished with five catches for 82 yards and a score in a 27-13 victory. He has 39 catches for 371 yards and two touchdowns on the season.

Robinson will look to extend his scoring streak to three games in Week 9 at Cincinnati.

Prioritizing waiver-wire picks at wide receiver

by Chris Towers | CBSSports.com
(10/21/14) In his Week 8 waiver-wire column, Jamey Eisenberg takes a look at the wide receivers most worth adding ahead of this week's games.

The list is headlined by new Seahawks' No. 1 Doug Baldwin (33 percent owned), with Odell Beckham (68 percent) of the Giants, Davante Adams (21 percent) of the Packers, Allen Robinson (34 percent) of the Jaguars and Brandon LaFell (56 percent) of the Patriots rounding out the remainder of the top five.

If you need to drop someone to make room for any pickups this week, he also recommends possibly parting ways with the Vikings' Cordarrelle Patterson (81 percent) or the Steelers' Markus Wheaton (35 percent).

Touchdowns not what Allen Robinson does best

by Scott White | Senior Fantasy Writer
(10/20/14) Jaguars wide receiver Allen Robinson scored his first career touchdown Week 7 against Cleveland, connecting with fellow rookie Blake Bortles on a 31-yard catch-and-run late in the second quarter.

Describing the play as "catch-and-run," though, makes it sound like the run aspect was by design, which simply isn't true. Robinson caught the pass with his back to the defense for what looked like a simple 10-yard gain. But he shook off one defender, kept his balance and managed to elude three other defenders on his way to the end zone.

It was a special play by a player not often put in a position to make special plays. The Jaguars have used Robinson more as a possession guy, targeting him on plays designed to gain only 10 yards or so. And he's done fine in the role. His four catches in this game were actually his fewest in the last five.

There's something to be said for a player who catches five balls every week, even if he doesn't have many big plays or touchdowns to show for it. Certainly, in points-per-reception leagues, Robinson has some appeal. Owners in standard leagues might need to see a couple more touchdowns from him before taking the plunge, though.

Jaguars WR Allen Robinson scores in defeat of Browns

by Marty Gitlin | CBSSports.com
(10/19/14) Jaguars rookie wideout Allen Robinson played a major role in the team's first victory of the season Sunday.

Robinson managed just four catches for 60 yards, but the most critical was a 31-yard scoring strike from quarterback Blake Bortles in which he broke two tackles, giving his team the lead for good at 7-6. He not only scored his first career touchdown, but he finished the first half with 47 yards receiving.

His next game is set for Sunday against Miami.

Making sense of the Jaguars receiving corps

by Scott White | Senior Fantasy Writer
(10/12/14) The Jaguars receiving corps continued to evolve with Cecil Shorts back from a hamstring injury Week 6 at Tennessee, this time with Allen Hurns getting the short end of the stick. Hurns, who tied for the team lead with 11 targets Week 5 against Pittsburgh, had only four against the Titans, catching two passes for 18 yards.

Shorts was clearly the go-to guy, catching 10 passes (on 16 targets) for 103 yards, which shouldn't be too surprising considering his track record. It's just easy to forget because of all the time he's missed this season. The hamstring injury also sidelined him for Weeks 1 and 2.

But Allen Robinson has also carved out a niche for himself as a possession receiver. His nine targets were second to Shorts' 16, and he turned them into eight catches for 68 yards. It was his fourth straight game with at least five catches, but he's averaging just 10.4 yards per catch.

At this point, I'm pretty much done with Hurns in Fantasy. He's shown some big-play potential, but he's wildly inconsistent and could fade into the background if Shorts is back for good. Shorts, meanwhile, needs to be owned in the majority of Fantasy leagues. He's clearly the best of the three. Robinson has some low-end appeal in points-per-reception leagues but doesn't get the yardage for standard-league use.
