Banged-up Bengals defense could be without four on Sunday
by Marty Gitlin | CBSSports.com (12/20/13) The battered Bengals defense has four players listed as doubtful or questionable for Sunday against visiting Minnesota. Fortunately for them, only cornerback Terence Newman (knee) has received the former desgination.
by Marty Gitlin | CBSSports.com (12/20/13) Bengals linebacker James Harrison and defensive end Carlos Dunlap, both of whom have been going through concussion protocol, worked in practice on Friday. The extent of their participation will be revealed when the team issues its injury report later in the day.

Bengals DST will try to slow down Vikings
by Scott White | Senior Fantasy Writer (12/18/13) Coming off disappointing defensive performances against the Steelers and Colts the last two weeks, the Bengals could use an easy matchup in Week 16. So it's a good thing they're facing the Vikings, right? Well, right?
Better check those numbers again. Yes, the Vikings have allowed the 10th-most Fantasy points to DSTs this season, but they rank 13th in total offense and eighth in scoring offense. They've been a different team since turning back to Matt Cassel at quarterback in Week 13, averaging 443.3 yards in three games. They had a monster offensive performance against the Eagles in Week 15, scoring a season-high 48 points on 455 yards -- and that was with star running back Adrian Peterson sidelined by a sprained foot. He hopes to be back in Week 16.
With just three sacks and four takeaways in their last three games, the Bengals may not have the means to stop them. This game could turn into a shootout, which makes the Bengals DST a risky start in Fantasy.
Both Jamey Eisenberg and Dave Richard rank it in their top 10 at the position, but I'm inclined to agree with Nathan Zegura, who ranks it 16th.

One of the best kept secrets in the NFL is the incredible play of the Bengalsí defense. Last year the team had the delightful combination of good health and talent to tally 52 sacks, 15 interceptions, 16 forced fumbles and five touchdowns while holding opponents to a modest average of 21.2 points per game. It's the first time in a while the Cincinnati DST has played well in consecutive years. With the amount of talent they have, there's no reason to believe it won't continue, especially as the Steelers, Ravens and Browns go through varying growing pains offensively. Expect the Bengals DST to be picked in the second-to-last round of drafts this summer. (Updated 4/25/13)
