Bruce Carter scores touchdown for Dallas defense in Week 3
by R.J. White | CBSSports.com (9/21/14) Cowboys linebacker Bruce Carter returned an interception 25 yards in the fourth quarter Sunday to score a key touchdown in his team's 34-31 win over the Rams in Week 3.
Carter put the Cowboys up 10 points before Rams scored a late touchdown by intercepting Austin Davis for the first time in the game. Cornerback Morris Claiborne added an interception on St. Louis' final offensive drive to seal the game for the Cowboys. Defensive lineman Henry Melton recovered a Rams fumble in Dallas territory late in the first half to help turn the tide after the defense surrendered 21 unanswered points to begin the game. The Cowboys defense faces a tough test in Week 4 when Drew Brees and the Saints come marching into town after a big win.
McClain was doubtful to play in Week 3 with his injury, while Durant, Spencer and Coleman had already been ruled out. Wide receiver Dez Bryant (shoulder), running back Joseph Randle (concussion), tight end Gavin Escobar (knee) and defensive end Lavar Edwards (knee) are active after being listed as questionable. Quarterback Tony Romo (back), guard Zack Martin (foot), defensive end George Selvie (shoulder) and defensive tackle Ken Bishop (illness) are all active after being listed as probable.
Cowboys rule out 3 on defense for Week 3
by Chris Towers | CBSSports.com (9/19/14) The Cowboys ruled out three players from the defensive side of the ball for Week 3 against the Rams, based on Friday's injury report.
Defensive linemen Anthony Spencer (knee) was unable to practice Friday after being limited earlier in the week, and will not play in Sunday's game. He will be joined on the sidelined by Davon Coleman (knee) and Justin Durant (groin), both of whom were unable to practice during the week.
Additionally, linebacker Rolando McClain (groin) is doubtful after missing the entire week. Defensive lineman Lavar Edwards (knee) is questionable, while George Selvie (shoulder) and Ken Bishop (illness) are both probable for the game and expected to play.
Rolando McClain not looking likely for Week 3
by Chris Towers | CBSSports.com (9/19/14) Cowboys linebacker Rolando McClain (groin) "probably" will not play in Week 3 against the Rams, team owner Jerry Jones told a local radio station Friday, via the Star-Telegram.
McClain has been unable to practice throughout the week with a groin strain, and his official status will be declared when the team's injury report comes out later in the day.
Rolando McClain's status for Week 3 remains TBD
by Michael Hurcomb | CBSSports.com (9/18/14) Cowboys linebacker Rolando McClain missed a second straight practice Thursday after suffering a groin strain in the second half Sunday against the Titans. His status for Week 3 against the Rams is still undecided.
"We certainly have confidence in his ability to play, but we believe in practice," Cowboys coach Jason Garrett said, per The Dallas Morning News. "He has to practice this week in some way, shape or form for us to believe that he can play in the game, so hopefully as the week goes on, he’s able to do get out there and get some snaps."

The Cowboys DST is not a good Fantasy option heading into this season. They were bad in 2013 at No. 19 in Fantasy points, and losing DeMarcus Ware and Jason Hatcher, who were their top two pass rushers, isn't going to help. On top of that, standout linebacker Sean Lee (ACL) is out for the season. There remains some talent on defense for the Cowboys with Brandon Carr and Barry Church, and hopefully rookie defensive end Demarcus Lawrence can help the pass rush, but a lot of work has to be done for Fantasy owners to consider using the Cowboys DST in any leagues this year. We would ignore the unit in all leagues on Draft Day. If they start off the season playing well, then you can add them off waivers as a bye-week replacement.
