by Scott White | Senior Fantasy Writer (9/30/14) According to standard CBSSports.com scoring, the Cowboys DST turned in its third straight double-digit effort in Week 4 -- and against the Saints, of all teams.
Once again, turnovers were the Cowboys' specialty. They intercepted a pass and recovered two fumbles, with Jack Crawford and Henry Melton each contributing a sack. They also limited the Saints' normally explosive offense to just 17 points on 438 yards.
The Cowboys' five takeaways are tied for fourth in the league and a big reason why the Cowboys DST ranks 15th in standard CBSSports.com leagues. If not for a poor showing Week 1 against the 49ers, it'd rank even higher than that.
The Cowboys have what looks to be a more favorable matchup Week 5 against Houston, making their DST worth considering in 12-team leagues.

by Igor Mello | CBSSports.com (9/29/14) Cowboys executive vice president Stephen Jones said on his weekly radio show that further tests revealed a torn patellar tendon for cornerback Morris Claiborne, according to the Fort Worth Star-Telegram. He is out for the remainder of the season.
Morris Claiborne skips practice after getting benched
by R.J. White | CBSSports.com (9/23/14) Cowboys cornerback Morris Claiborne skipped the team's practice Tuesday and angrily left the practice facility after being informed that he was being replaced in the starting lineup, ESPNDallas.com reports.
Claiborne could be fined by the team for skipping practice or conduct detrimental to the team. He ranks 91 out of 96 cornerbacks over the first three weeks of the season, per Pro Football Focus' cumulative cornerback rating. Orlando Scandrick will take over a starting cornerback position.
"We’ll come in here and see how it feels in the morning," Melton said. "If they feel like I can go, I’ll go. If not, we’ll just wait for Thursday."
Melton said he injured his hamstring early in Sunday's game but was able to play through the injury. He managed to recover a fumble late in the first half of the win.

The Cowboys DST is not a good Fantasy option heading into this season. They were bad in 2013 at No. 19 in Fantasy points, and losing DeMarcus Ware and Jason Hatcher, who were their top two pass rushers, isn't going to help. On top of that, standout linebacker Sean Lee (ACL) is out for the season. There remains some talent on defense for the Cowboys with Brandon Carr and Barry Church, and hopefully rookie defensive end Demarcus Lawrence can help the pass rush, but a lot of work has to be done for Fantasy owners to consider using the Cowboys DST in any leagues this year. We would ignore the unit in all leagues on Draft Day. If they start off the season playing well, then you can add them off waivers as a bye-week replacement.
