(11/23/14) The Colts became the latest team to have a standout defensive effort against the hapless Jaguars, limiting them to three points on 194 yards in Week 12. They had four sacks, more than in their previous three games combined, and two takeaways -- one interception and one fumble recovery.
The performance came on the heels of a three-game stretch in which they allowed an average of 39.0 points on 526.7 yards, so you'll want to make sure the Colts DST has a favorable matchup before turning to it in Fantasy. Fortunately, it has one of those Week 13 against Washington.
Garbage time ruins Colts DST

(11/4/14) After an embarrassing showing at Pittsburgh in Week 8, the Colts defense did bounce back in Week 9, effectively shutting down the hosting Giants through three quarters. But with the game well in hand, it relaxed in the fourth quarter, making its final line not as impressive as it could have been.
In all, the Colts allowed 24 points on 438 points, but 14 of those points and 196 of those yards came in the final period. They had three sacks after recording none against the Steelers and also recovered a fumble.
Because the Colts DST is tied for seventh in sacks, it tends to make a positive Fantasy contribution more weeks than not, but its best games have come with favorable matchups. It's on bye in Week 10 and will be useless against the Patriots in Week 11 as well. But you'll want to keep it in mind for Week 12 against the Jaguars.
Colts list CB Vontae Davis day to day
by Igor Mello | CBSSports.com
(10/27/14) Colts coach Chuck Pagano told reporters in his news conference on Monday that cornerback Vontae Davis is listed as day to day moving forward, according to the team's official website. Davis suffered knee injury Week 8 at Pittsburgh and his MRI showed "nothing major" on his knee, according to Pagano. His status remains uncertain for Week 9 against the Giants.
Report: MRI comes back clean for Colts CB Vontae Davis (knee)

(10/27/14) Colts cornerback Vontae Davis apparently dodged a serious knee injury as the results of an MRI came back negative, according to NFL.com. Davis was unable to finish Sunday's game against the Steelers after hurting his knee with just under six minutes left in the first quarter.
Colts DST gets rude awakening
by Scott White | Senior Fantasy Writer
(10/27/14) The Colts may have dominated the Bengals in Week 7, shutting them out on just 135 yards, but they were on the other end of the spectrum defensively Week 8 at Pittsburgh, allowing 51 points on 639 yards.
Their biggest problem, of course, was quarterback Ben Roethlisberger, who set franchise records with 522 passing yards and six touchdowns. The Colts hadn't allowed even 200 yards through the air since Week 3 at Jacksonville. And while they had done a good job of pressuring the quarterback in recent weeks, averaging 4.0 sacks over their previous five games, they didn't sack Roethlisberger once in this one. They did recover two fumbles, though.
The Colts DST has been mostly a hit in Fantasy this season, but this was clearly a big miss, which should make you think twice about starting it Week 9 at the Giants. Owners in leagues with 12 teams or fewer may want to weigh their options.

This could be the year Chuck Pagano's vision comes into focus in Indianapolis. The DST stunningly finished as a Top 10 unit last season thanks to a very strong finish against the Texans, Chiefs and Jaguars. They ranked 13th against the pass but a disappointing 26th against the run. So when the Colts had the chance to add run-stuffer D'Qwell Jackson after the Browns cut him, they didn't hesitate. If Jackson can do for the Colts what he did for the Browns then the unit has a chance to be really good. It would be even more interesting if they could improve on their special-teams play -- the Colts didn't score a single touchdown on their kick or punt return squads. It will be hard to pull the trigger on the Colts as a start-worthy DST this summer, so don't do it. Expect them to be a consideration off waivers either when you need a one-week replacement or when you get fed up with the DST you drafted.
