Chiefs draft defensive end Dee Ford
by Jamey Eisenberg | Senior Fantasy Writer (5/8/14) With the No. 23 pick in the NFL Draft, the Chiefs drafted defensive end Dee Ford from Auburn.
Ford, who is 6-foot-2, 252 pounds, had 10.5 sacks in 2013 despite missing two games with a knee injury. He did not take part in the NFL Combine due to a 2011 back operation, but he still ran a 4.59 40-yard dash at the Auburn Pro Day.
He will likely be a situational pass rusher for the Chiefs behind Tamba Hali and Justin Houston, but he will make the Chiefs defense and Chiefs DST a better unit in 2014.

The Chiefs DST was expected to improve in 2013, but no one could have predicted a No. 2 finish in Fantasy points in standard leagues. Only the Seahawks DST was a better unit, but the Chiefs DST led the way in touchdowns with 11. That will be hard to duplicate, so get ready for a downturn in production, but they still managed 21 interceptions, 47 sacks and 15 fumble recoveries. The Chiefs do have plenty of standout defenders with Derrick Johnson, Justin Houston, Tamba Hali and Eric Berry, and they spent a first-round pick on rookie pass rusher Dee Ford, so they should remain a No. 1 unit. Plan on drafting the Chiefs DST with a late-round pick in all leagues.
