by Chris Towers | CBSSports.com (12/8/13) Dolphins defensive back Chris Clemons had a solid game Sunday, leading the team in tackles in a 34-28 win over the Steelers in Week 14. Clemons racked up 12 stops -- seven solo -- and a pass defended in the win.
Clemons has 72 tackles in 13 games, putting shy of his career high of 98 tackles last week.
Olivier Vernon gets to the QB again
by Chris Towers | CBSSports.com (12/8/13) Dolphins linebacker Olivier Vernon continued his breakout season Sunday, as he recorded another sack in a 34-28 win over the Steelers in Week 14. Vernon brought Ben Roethlisberger down with one of his two tackles, giving him his fourth straight game with a sack.
Vernon has 11 1/2 sacks with three games remaining in the season, and seven of them have come in the last four games.
Cameron Wake makes big play
by Chris Towers | CBSSports.com (12/8/13) Dolphins defensive end Cameron Wake came up with a big play in Week 14 against the Steelers, and it helped the Dolphins earn a 34-28 win. Wake ended his sack-less streak at two games, by bringing down Ben Roethlisberger, and he also forced a fumble the Dolphins were able to jump on for their lone turnover in the game.
Wake has been surprisingly quiet for long stretches of the season, but still has 7 1/2 sacks with three games left.
Dolphins nearly blow it vs. Steelers
by Chris Towers | CBSSports.com (12/8/13) The Dolphins DST unit did not prove capable of slowing the Steelers down much Sunday, in a 34-28 win in Week 14.
The Dolphins surrendered 412 yards of total offense to the Steelers, and only Antonio Brown stepping out of bounds on a desperation final play kept the Steelers under 30 points -- and the Dolphins on top.
The Dolphins forced just one turnover in the game, on a strip sack of Ben Roethlisberger. They sacked Roethlisberger three times in total, while allowing him to throw three touchdowns without an interception.
The Dolphins struggled with the Steelers' passing game Sunday, and things only get more difficult in Week 15. The Patriots and Tom Brady head to Miami next Sunday for the teams' second matchup of the season.
Dolphins defenders play through injury Sunday
by Chris Towers | CBSSports.com (12/8/13) Dolphins defensive back Dimitri Patterson (groin) headlined the team's injury report on the defensive side of the ball for Week 14 against the Steelers, and he was able to take the field in spite of the injury Sunday.
Patterson is joined by defensive back Chris Clemons (knee, hamstring) and linebacker Austin Spitler (knee) as Dolphins defenders able to play through their injuries Sunday.

The Dolphins DST has the ability to be a quality Fantasy unit in 2013, but it needs to generate more turnovers, and hopefully the addition of free agent Dannell Ellerbe will help. In 2012, the Dolphins were among the league leaders in sacks with 42. They were above average in run defense at No. 13 in yards allowed (1,734) but mediocre in pass defense at No. 27 (3,974 yards allowed). The problem, however, was turnovers. Miami had just 10 interceptions on the season and six fumble recoveries, which ranked in the bottom 10 in the NFL in both categories. If Miami can improve in that area then the Dolphins DST should rise. Go into this season with the unit as a No. 2 Fantasy option on Draft Day, and they can be a useful bye-week replacement if they start off the season playing at a high level. (Updated 4/26/13)
