Cortland Finnegan taking two-year deal with the Dolphins
by Dave Richard | Senior Fantasy Writer (3/14/14) Miami is expected to sign cornerback Cortland Finnegan to a two-year deal, a source told NFL Network. The Dolphins will pair him with Brent Grimes as their starting corners, assuming they don't open up a competition for the other starting spot with Will Davis.
Finnegan struggled last year with the Rams, totaling one interception and 27 total tackles in seven games before fracturing an orbital bone. He should be fine for the start of training camp.
Louis Delmas to sign one-year deal with Miami
by Igor Mello | CBSSports.com (3/10/14) Former Lions safety Louis Delmasagreed to terms on a one-year, $3.5 million deal with the Dolphins, according to Pro Football Talk on Monday.
Delmas was a full-time starter with Detroit in 2013, finishing the season with 64 tackles and three interceptions.
Brent Grimes not expected to get franchise tag
by Jamey Eisenberg | Senior Fantasy Writer (3/3/14) The Dolphins have to decide Monday if they want to place the franchise tag on cornerback Brent Grimes or let him become a free agent, reports ESPN.
The report says the Dolphins can use the one-year franchise tag before the afternoon deadline at $11.5 million. Or they can attempt to sign him to a long-term extension before he hits the open market.
by Jamey Eisenberg | Senior Fantasy Writer (2/28/14) The Dolphins are looking at trade options for defensive lineman Dion Jordan, reports CBS Sports NFL Insider Jason LaCanfora.
The Dolphins traded up in the 2013 NFL Draft to pick Jordan at No. 3 overall. But Jordan made minimal impact as a rookie with only two sacks and 26 total tackles.
Brent Grimes 'pretty optimistic' about long-term deal
by Larry Hartstein | CBSSports.com (2/24/14) Cornerback Brent Grimes said he's "pretty optimistic" he'll reach a contract agreement with the Dolphins before the franchise tag deadline a week away, reports the Miami Herald.
“They said they like me here and want to have me back," Grimes told the paper. "Hopefully, it happens sooner than later, and I don’t have to worry about it.” Grimes said the team has not discussed slapping him with the tag, and "nobody wants to get franchise tag, another one-year deal.”
Even if a player is tagged, the sides can negotiate a contract and get the tag lifted by mid-July.

The Dolphins DST has the ability to be a quality Fantasy unit in 2013, but it needs to generate more turnovers, and hopefully the addition of free agent Dannell Ellerbe will help. In 2012, the Dolphins were among the league leaders in sacks with 42. They were above average in run defense at No. 13 in yards allowed (1,734) but mediocre in pass defense at No. 27 (3,974 yards allowed). The problem, however, was turnovers. Miami had just 10 interceptions on the season and six fumble recoveries, which ranked in the bottom 10 in the NFL in both categories. If Miami can improve in that area then the Dolphins DST should rise. Go into this season with the unit as a No. 2 Fantasy option on Draft Day, and they can be a useful bye-week replacement if they start off the season playing at a high level. (Updated 4/26/13)
