Steelers GM on Worilds: 'Maybe he comes back, maybe he moves on'

by Igor Mello | CBSSports.com
(2/18/15) Steelers general manager Kevin Colbert reiterated his team's desire to bring back Jason Worilds next season, per NFL.

"Maybe he comes back, maybe he moves on," Colbert said during Tuesday's combine press conference. "We'd love to have him back if it all fits."

Worilds turned in a productive 2014 campaign, registering 59 tackles with 7 1/2 sacks in all 16 games.

Steelers coach Mike Tomlin: Troy Polamalu will start wild-card game

by Igor Mello | CBSSports.com
(1/3/15) Steelers safety Troy Polamalu will be in the starting lineup for Saturday night's AFC wild-card game against the Ravens, coach Mike Tomlin told the team's official website. Polamalu missed the previous two games and four of the last seven due to numerous injuries. He entered Saturday as probable despite dealing with a knee injury.

"I needed to see him prepare. Sometimes a guy is able to play at the 11th hour and they don’t get the in-helmet preparation over the course of the work week," Tomlin said. "When you get to January football and the stakes are high, detail is going to define you. Not only him but us, and you need that in-helmet preparation to do it. He was able to practice this week, and so that made the decision easier. Had he not been able to practice this week, that’s an element of the discussion that makes it more complex. That’s what I was referring to earlier in the week."

Steelers pass rush dominates in victory

by Chris Towers | CBSSports.com
(12/21/14) The Steelers DST unit continued its solid play in Week 16, in a 20-12 win over the Chiefs.

The Chiefs racked up 327 yards of total offense in the win, but did little to take advantage of that. They made four trips to the red zone and failed to come away with a single touchdown, settling for four field goals in the loss. The Steelers forced one turnover and sacked Alex Smith six times, en route to 14 Fantasy points.

The Steelers have at least 9 Fantasy points in eight of their last nine games, including 9 against the Bengals in Week 14. They will look to pull that feat again in Week 17, with the Bengals on the schedule again to close the season out.

Steelers DST comes through with big play

by Scott White | Senior Fantasy Writer
(12/14/14) The Steelers didn't have a standout defensive performance Week 15 at Atlanta, giving up 20 points on 407 yards, but one big defensive play early in the second quarter ended up being the difference in the game. William Gay intercepted a Matt Ryan pass over the middle of the field and returned it 52 yards for a touchdown. It was the one takeaway for the Steelers on the day. They also didn't record a sack.

The Steelers DST has been light on big plays all season, recording a total of four takeaways and four sacks in its last four games. It's why the only time you'd want to use it in Fantasy is when it has a favorable matchup. With a so-so one Week 16 against Kansas City, you should probably avoid it.

Steelers' defense comes alive in the second half

by Chris Towers | CBSSports.com
(12/7/14) The Steelers defense got off to a slow start Sunday, but they buckled down in the second half and ran away with a 42-21 win over the Bengals in Week 14.

The Steelers allowed the Bengals to score twice in the second quarter, as they headed into halftime down, 14-10. However, they allowed just one more score, on a long touchdown to A.J. Green, en route to the blowout. The Bengals racked up 408 yards of total offense, but lost a pair of fumbles and made it into the red zone just once in the loss.

The Steelers DST unit came away from the game with 9 Fantasy points, a big improvement over their 1-point showing in Week 13. They face a tough test in Week 15, with the Falcons on the schedule.
