Rams DST continues to dominate

by Scott White | Senior Fantasy Writer
(12/7/14) The Rams continued their recent stretch of defensive dominance Week 14 at Washington, shutting out the Redskins on just 206 yards. They had no shortage of big plays either, recording seven sacks, 1 1/2 each by James Laurinaitis and Robert Quinn, to give them 13 in their last two games. They also had two interceptions, giving them five during that same stretch.

The biggest play for the Rams DST wasn't on defense, though, but on special teams. Tavon Austin returned a punt 78 yards for a touchdown in the third quarter. For the Rams DST, it was the third straight game with a touchdown.

The Rams DST got off to a miserable start to the season, recording just one sack over its first five games, but in standard CBSSports.com leagues, it has averaged 24.7 Fantasy points over its last six, including 40.0 in its last two. And though it had a favorable matchup in Week 14, some of its matchups during that stretch were the 49ers, Broncos and Chargers.

Based on the kind of roll it's on right now, you might want to start the Rams DST regardless of matchups, but it has another favorable one Week 15 against Arizona and backup quarterback Drew Stanton.

Rams dominate Raiders in shutout

by Chris Towers | CBSSports.com
(11/30/14) The Rams took advantage of the Raiders' offense woes in Week 13, in a 52-0 win Sunday.

The Rams held the Raiders to just 244 yards of total offense on 75 plays, and absolutel dominated every facet of the game. The Rams came away with five turnovers, and turned one of them, a late interception, into a touchdown. They also sacked the two Raiders' quarterbacks a combined six times en route to the shutout.

The Rams have now reached double figures in Fantasy scoring in four of their last five games, highlighted by Sunday's 34-point explosion. They could keep rolling in Week 14, with Washington on the schedule.

Targeting DST options to stream in Week 13

by Chris Towers | CBSSports.com
(11/25/14) In his waiver-wire column Tuesday, Jamey Eisenberg names the Ravens, Rams and Bengals as the top DST streaming options for Week 13.

The Ravens have a tough matchup on the way against Philip Rivers and the Chargers, though San Diego's offense hasn't been quite up to par lately. Each of their last five opponents have managed at least 8 Fantasy points, and that dovetails nicely with the Raven's own streak of eight straight games reaching that level.

The Rams and Bengals both have better matchups on the way, as the Rams are set to take on the Raiders and the Bengals heading to Tampa to take on the Buccaneers. All three are owned in fewer than 70 percent of CBSSports.com leagues, and should make for solid streaming options for Week 13.

Rams DST continues to impress

by Scott White | Senior Fantasy Writer
(11/24/14) At least for Fantasy purposes, the Rams had another strong defensive showing Week 12 at San Diego. True, they gave up 27 points on 410 yards, but they also had three sacks and three takeaways, including an interception that Janoris Jenkins returned 99 yards for a touchdown early in the second quarter.

It was the third time in four games that the Rams DST scored double-digit Fantasy points in standard CBSSports.com leagues -- something it did only twice in its first seven games. And one of those three was against the Broncos, lest you forget.

The key to the Rams' turnaround has been their pass rush, which was expected to be among the league's best coming into the season but recorded just one sack in its first five games. It has 21 in six games since.

With the turnaround, the Rams DST has proven to be plenty serviceable when it has a favorable matchup, which it does each of the next three weeks. The Raiders come to town in Week 13.

Defense leads the way in upset win over Broncos

by Chris Towers | CBSSports.com
(11/17/14) The Rams defense came up with arguably their best performance of the season in Week 11, as they shut down the Broncos offense in a 22-7 win.

The Rams allowed 397 yards of total offense, but held the Broncos out of the end zone almost all day, with just one long pass getting the Broncos in. The Rams came up with a pair of sacks and intercepted quarterback Peyton Manning twice, his third game in a row with at least two picks.

The Rams have been about as inconsistent as a DST unit can be this season, with four 10-plus Fantasy point games and six with seven or under their belt so far. They will look to keep their Week 11 success up in Week 12, with a matchup against the Chargers on the game.
