Preseason Outlook

Pats pick up LB Lenon: The Boston Globe reports that the Patriots and LB Paris Lenon have agreed to terms on a contract. Lenon has spent the last three seasons with the Lions, including last year. He's best suited to play inside and has notched 80-plus tackles in each of his last two seasons. "Paris is excited to finally be a part of a winning organization and eager to contribute in whatever way Coach Belichick and his staff see fit. Now, quite simply, he's eager to go to work," agent Jon Persch said.

Fantasy Analysis

Lenon might have a shot at working next to Jerod Mayo as part of the Patriots' LB corps. Of course, he'd have to beat out Tedy Bruschi for playing time first. He's unlikely to be a useful Fantasy option to IDP owners this year.

Paris Lenon cashed in during his contract year with 121 total tackles (81 solo), 1.5 sacks, two forced fumbles and three passes defensed. His total tackles were a career-best, and his other totals were close to his career-highs. He latched on with the Patriots in late May, but he might have to settle for a reserve role as starters Jerod Mayo and Tedy Bruschi have the inside linebacker jobs. He's unlikely to be a useful Fantasy option to IDP owners this year. (Updated 5/27/09)
