|Carson Palmer a risky start in Week 15 |
|by Jamey Eisenberg | Senior Fantasy Writer|
(11:01 am ET) Cardinals quarterback Carson Palmer is expected to start in Week 15 at Tennessee despite dealing with an elbow injury, but it's a tough matchup for him against the Titans.
The Titans were abused by Peyton Manning last week, which isn't much of a surprise since he can dismantle any secondary. But give credit where it's due, and the Titans have shut down most other passing attacks with Matt Schaub in Week 2 the only quarterback along with Manning to score 20 or more Fantasy points, including matchups with Ben Roethlisberger, Philip Rivers, Russell Wilson, Colin Kaepernick and Andrew Luck twice.
Palmer did a nice job playing through his elbow injury last week against St. Louis, but he snapped a string of three games in a row with 24 or more Fantasy points and five games in a row with multiple touchdowns. With a tough matchup and a bad throwing elbow, we'd be cautious with him this week and consider other options.

(12/9/13) Cardinals coach Bruce Arians said Monday he wasn't sure how much quarterback Carson Palmer will practice leading up to Week 15 at Tennessee after being questionable this past week because of an elbow injury. Arians, however, said he wants Palmer to get more work this week than last week.
Despite the injury, Palmer completed 27 of 32 passes for 269 yards and one touchdown during a 30-10 win Week 14.

(12/8/13) Cardinals quarterback Carson Palmer continued his hot streak Week 14 against the Rams.
Palmer only tossed one touchdown, but overall had a strong game. He completed 27 of his 32 attempts for 269 yards. Palmer did not throw an interception. Palmer actually almost had a second score, but it was overturned by the refs. Palmer hit Jim Dray on what looked to be a touchdown, but it was ruled Dray never broke the plane. Dray fumbled on the play, and it was ruled to be the Rams ball.
Palmer will look to continue his hot streak Week 15 against the Titans.

(12/7/13) Cardinals quarterback Carson Palmer (elbow) is officially questionable for Sunday's game against the Rams, but seems likely to play in Week 14. According to ESPN.com, Palmer took all of the snaps in Saturday's walkthrough for the game, and is expected to be the starter.
|Carson Palmer went from the starting quarterback for the Raiders the past two seasons to the starter for the Cardinals this year. It’s a nice upgrade for the 33-year-old passer, who is entering the twilight of his career. Palmer actually was a quality Fantasy quarterback in 2012. In 14 full games he had at least 18 Fantasy points 10 times. His biggest issue was turnovers since he had at least one interception in 11 games, including nine games in a row. But his final stats were respectable at 4,018 passing yards, 22 touchdowns and 14 interceptions and 18 carries for 36 yards and one touchdown. The reason the move to the Cardinals is an upgrade is Palmer now gets to throw to Larry Fitzgerald, who is the best receiver he’s ever had. He also gets a coach in Bruce Arians who likes a downfield attack, and Palmer has other quality weapons in Michael Floyd, Andre Roberts and Rob Housler. The Cardinals need to upgrade their offensive line to keep Palmer off his back – they allowed the most sacks in the NFL last year at 58 – but Palmer enters the season as a No. 2 Fantasy quarterback with upside. He’s worth a late-round pick in deeper leagues. (Updated 4/25/13) |
