T.J. Yates gets some time Thursday
by Chris Cwik | CBSSports.com
(9/19/14) Falcons quarterback T.J. Yates saw some time Thursday against the Falcons.

Yates completed 3 of 4 passes for 64 yards. His only incompletion was a big one, as the Buccaneers managed to intercept and run back the pass for a score.

Yates will take on the Vikings Week 4.

Matt Ryan dominates before early exit
by Chris Cwik | CBSSports.com
(9/19/14) Falcons quarterback Matt Ryan was dominant against the Falcons Thursday night.

Ryan completed 21 of 24 attempts, for 286 yards and three scores. He did all of this before the end of the third quarter. With the Falcons up 42-0, Ryan was pulled from the game. Tampa had no answers for the Falcons offense, allowing Ryan to drive the ball up and down the field with ease. Ryan also had one rushing attempt for 2 yards.

Ryan will look for more Week 4 against the Vikings.

Matt Ryan expects offense to get back on track Week 3
by Michael Hurcomb | CBSSports.com
(9/16/14) The Falcons amassed just 309 yards and 10 points in a Week 2 loss at Cincinnati after totaling 568 yards and 37 points in a Week 1 win vs. New Orleans. Quarterback Matt Ryan expects the offense to get back on track heading into Thursday's showdown with the Bucs, per ESPN.

"On a positive note, I think there are some things we've done well, more so in Week 1 than Week 2,'' Ryan said Tuesday. "But I think the run game has been pretty efficient up until this point. We need to continue to be efficient in the run game.

"And then in terms of the pass game, I think that's an area ... we just need to be more consistent. One of the thing that we've seen is that one week, we're capable of making a bunch of explosives. The following week, we're not. We've got to get to a point where week in and week out, we show up and play the way that we're capable of."

Nothing goes right for Matt Ryan
by Scott White | Senior Fantasy Writer
(9/14/14) After winning NFC Offensive Player of the Week honors in Week 1 with a career-best performance against the Saints, Falcons quarterback Matt Ryan couldn't have looked any different Week 2 at Cincinnati. His receivers had no room to run after the catch in the first half, leading to just 60 yards on 10-of-17 passing, which forced him to take chances downfield in the second half, resulting in three interceptions.

In the end, he was 24-of-44 passing for 231 yards -- a decent total but a far cry from the 448 he had in Week 1. Of his interceptions, the first was on a well-located pass that bounced off the hands of tight end Levine Toilolo, and the third was on a desperation heave downfield on the team's final position. The second one, though, was costly, coming with the Falcons on the verge of scoring their first touchdown deep in Bengals' territory late in the third quarter.

Ryan did have one highlight, finding wide receiver Julio Jones on a 14-yard pass in the fourth quarter for his only touchdown on the day. He also ran three times for 28 yards.

He'll have a short week to prepare for his next opponent, the Buccaneers, who will visit Atlanta Thursday night.

Matt Ryan begins year with career day
by Scott White | Senior Fantasy Writer
(9/7/14) Falcons quarterback Matt Ryan made use of every weapon in his arsenal en route to a career-best 448 passing yards Week 1 against the Saints. He completed 31 of 43 passes and threw for three touchdowns -- a 2-yarder to Roddy White in the second quarter, a 1-yarder to Levine Toilolo in the third quarter and a 54-yarder to Antone Smith in the third quarter. He also ran for 15 yards on three carries.

Of the nine receivers who caught passes from him, four caught five or more and five went for more than 50 yards. Ryan's old favorite, Julio Jones, led the way with seven catches for 116 yards, but newcomer Devin Hester had five catches for 99 yards.

As has been the case throughout his career, Ryan was at his best with the clock winding down, completing a 39-yard pass to White to set up a field goal just before halftime and a 21-yarder to Hester to put the Falcons in position for a game-tying field goal with less than a minute to go in regulation.

Ryan will look to keep it going Week 2 at the Bengals, who gave up 345 passing yards to Ravens quarterback Joe Flacco in Week 1.
