Falcons QB Matt Ryan good, but not good enough Sunday

by Marty Gitlin | CBSSports.com
(12/14/14) A strong performance by Falcons quarterback Matt Ryan on Sunday was not strong enough to overcome Pittsburgh.

Ryan finished 26 of 37 for 310 yards, two touchdowns and one interception. Not bad considering he completed just 2 of 4 for 14 yards in the first quarter and fired a pick on a horrible throw to begin the second. He recovered to hit Devin Hester for a 17-yard score several minutes later and Roddy White on a 4-yarder early in the fourth.

His second half began with a bang when he found Hester for 46 yards. Ryan, who threw for 196 yards after intermission, will attempt to guide his team to a win next Sunday at New Orleans.

Matt Ryan able to stand, deliver

by Scott White | Senior Fantasy Writer
(12/9/14) After struggling most of the season behind a depleted offensive line, Falcons quarterback Matt Ryan appears to be comfortable in the pocket again, leading his team on a frantic comeback bid with four touchdown passes Week 14 at Green Bay. It was his first game with more than two touchdown passes since Week 4. He had three touchdown passes in three of his first four games.

Though all the touchdowns were something new, the turnaround actually began for Ryan in Week 12, when he threw for 273 yards and two touchdowns against Cleveland. In that game, he had four passes of 20 yards or more, up from one in Week 11. He had three in Week 13 and five in this one.

Sounds to me like he's getting more time to throw the ball, and the number of sacks he has taken during that three-game stretch (a total of five) reflects the same. If the Falcons' reworked offensive line has jelled enough for him to keep his sights downfield -- and he recognizes what a luxury that is now -- making Julio Jones more of a priority than ever, he could be in for a big finish, especially since his matchups the next two weeks against the Steelers and Saints have the makings of shootouts.

Matt Ryan throws four second-half touchdowns in shootout loss

(12/9/14) Falcons quarterback Matt Ryan heated up in the second half at Green Bay on Monday night and finished 24 of 39 for 375 yards and a season-high four touchdowns with one interception. All four scores came after halftime as Atlanta nearly rallied from a 24-point deficit.

Ryan posted his fourth 300-yard passing game this season and added 23 yards on two rushes. His favorite receiver, by far, was Julio Jones. The duo hooked up 11 times for 259 yards and a score, including a 79-yard completion on the first play from scrimmage after halftime. Ryan also threw scoring passes to Roddy White, Harry Douglas and Eric Weems.

Up to 25 touchdowns, Ryan plays the Steelers in Week 15.

Falcons' Matt Ryan tosses two scores Week 13

by Chris Cwik | CBSSports.com
(11/30/14) Falcons quarterback Matt Ryan tossed two scores Week 13 against the Cardinals.

Ryan completed 30 of 41 passes for 361 yards and two scores. He also tossed one interception during the contest. Ryan got a ton of production out of his starting receivers. Julio Jones burned Arizona for 189 yards and a score. Harry Douglas also went over 100 yards. Nineteen of Ryan's 30 completions went to Jones and Douglas. Ryan looked strong early, tossing both touchdowns in the first quarter, but couldn't find the end zone again versus the tough Cardinals defense. He also had 4 rushing yards on three attempts.

Ryan will look for more Week 14 against the Packers.

Matt Ryan produces just one touchdown against Bucs

by Larry Hartstein | CBSSports.com
(11/9/14) Facing the league's 31st ranked pass defense, Falcons quarterback Matt Ryan completed 20 of 31 throws for 219 yards and a touchdown in the Week 10 win at Tampa Bay. Ryan has thrown just six touchdown passes over his past five games.

Sunday, he hit wideout Roddy White for a 5-yard score in the fourth quarter. Earlier he had receiver Julio Jones wide open for a 48-yard score. But Ryan underthrew him and the pass was knocked away. Receiver Devin Hester dropped a touchdown pass, too.

Ryan, who has one 300-yard game since the opener, rushed three times for 9 yards. He visits the Panthers in Week 11.
