Tony Romo, Dez Bryant have a good thing going

by Scott White | Senior Fantasy Writer
(12/15/14) After beginning the season in more of a game-manager role, doing his part to make DeMarco Murray the best rusher in the game, the Cowboys' Tony Romo has gotten back to being an elite Fantasy quarterback in recent weeks. Week 15 at Philadelphia was his fourth game in five with at least three touchdown passes. He's the seventh-best passer in standard CBSSports.com leagues during that stretch -- and that's including his Week 11 bye.

The most interesting part about the turnaround is that he hasn't thrown the ball more during it. In fact, just the opposite: He has averaged 27.8 pass attempts in his last five games compared to 30.3 in his previous eight. The key has been putting the ball in his best playmaker's hands.

Dez Bryant was at his lowest of lows in the two games prior to this five-game stretch. He scored a touchdown in each, but on a combined 45 yards. Romo found him six times for 158 yards and two touchdowns the following week and has gone on to average 102.6 yards with seven touchdowns in his last five games. That's compared to 70.6 with six in his first nine.

Now that the two are in sync, it's led to some magical numbers on both ends, and neither of the Cowboys' matchups to close out the season figures to end it. In Week 16 against Indianapolis, they'll probably have to throw more just to keep pace with the Colts' scoring.

Cowboys QB Tony Romo suffered broken rib near start of season

by Igor Mello | CBSSports.com
(12/5/14) Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo revealed to reporters following a 41-28 win over Chicago he has been playing with a broken rib for approximately two months, Todd Archer of ESPN reports.

Romo indicated he suffered the injury either Week 3 against the Rams or Week 4 against the Saints.

It's not the first time he's played with a broken rib. In 2011, he suffered a broken rib and punctured lung and kept playing through the pain. Romo, who had offseason back surgery, is wearing a longer plate to protect his back along with extra protection for his ribs. He passed for 205 yards and three touchdowns against Chicago.

"I took a [pain-killing] shot this week," Romo said. "I didn't last week in the Eagles game, and that was a poor decision I think."

With the win on Thursday, the Cowboys will have 10 days to prepare for their matchup against the NFC East-leading Philadelphia Eagles in Week 15.

Tony Romo (back) probable for Thursday Night Football

by Larry Hartstein | CBSSports.com
(12/3/14) Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo (back) is probable for Thursday's game at Chicago after practicing in full Monday and Tuesday. Romo is coming off his first game with multiple interceptions since the season opener.

Coach is '100 percent confident' Tony Romo will bounce back

by Larry Hartstein | CBSSports.com
(12/1/14) Cowboys play-caller Scott Linehan told the Dallas Morning News he's "100 percent confident" that quarterback Tony Romo will bounce back from his Thanksgiving performance. In the loss to the Eagles, Romo posted a 53.7 passer rating, his lowest since 2011.

"Quarterbacks aren’t going to have A-games every week," Linehan said. "You’re going to have a couple games that aren’t as good as others. I love his experience and the fact that he’s been through that. He’s had a really good season for us and we as an offense, we as a team, didn’t have one of our better days last week.

"It has nothing to do with anything other than we’ve all got to do our part better and step up better. Tony is a great, experienced veteran leader for us. We know he’s going to come ready to play the next game after a game like that."

Dallas visits the Bears on Thursday.

by Larry Hartstein | CBSSports.com
