Peyton Manning is absolutely awesome in season openers
by Larry Hartstein | CBSSports.com
(9/1/14) Peyton Manning is money in season openers. In his last three, two with the Broncos and one with the Colts, Manning completed 69 percent of his throws for 1,148 yards (383 per game) and 12 touchdowns with no interceptions.

Manning became the sixth quarterback in NFL history -- first since 1969 -- to throw seven touchdowns in a game when Denver walloped Baltimore 49-27 in the 2013 opener.

Not that he needs added motivation, but Manning has plenty entering Sunday night's home game against Indy. His first matchup with his former team, Week 7 last year, didn't go well. The Colts handed the Broncos their first loss, 39-33, as Manning lost a fumble, threw an interception, fluttered his passes and took four sacks.

Linebacker Robert Mathis keyed the rush with two sacks and four hits on Manning. He'll be watching Sunday, serving the first of his four-game suspension.

Indianapolis ranked 15th in Fantasy points allowed to quarterbacks last year (18.44). Even though Manning had an off game at Indy, he still threw for 386 yards and three touchdowns and put up 31 Fantasy points.

With Wes Welker (concussion) on track to get cleared, Manning should have all his weapons Sunday. He's the No. 1 QB play on the board.

Peyton Manning throws for 243 yards in first half
by Larry Hartstein | CBSSports.com
(8/24/14) Broncos quarterback Peyton Manning tuned up for the regular season by shredding the Texans for 243 passing yards and two touchdowns in the first half Saturday. Manning hit 21 of 27 throws but was picked off for the first time this preseason.

Manning's favorite target was Emmanuel Sanders. The duo hooked up five times for 128 yards and both scores. Manning, who's completed 79.6 percent of his throws in three preseason games, likely won't play again until the Sept. 7 regular-season opener against the Colts.
Peyton Manning carves up 49ers
by Larry Hartstein | CBSSports.com
(8/17/14) Broncos quarterback Peyton Manning led two scoring drives against the 49ers before leaving in the second quarter. Manning completed 12 of 14 passes for 102 yards, including an easy 17-yard touchdown to tight end Julius Thomas.

Manning, who completed his last seven throws, targeted seven different receivers. His favorite target was Demaryius Thomas; the duo connected five times for 37 yards.

Denver's first drive ended in a field goal after Manning barely missed Andre Caldwell in the end zone on third down.

Peyton Manning looks sharp in preseason opener
by Igor Mello | CBSSports.com
(8/8/14) Broncos quarterback Peyton Manning had a pretty productive preseason debut on Thursday against the Seahawks.

Manning played two series, highlighted by a 14-play, 61-yard drive which led to a touchdown in his final drive of the night. He completed 10 of 13 passes for 78 yards. Five of his 10 completed passes went to Demaryius Thomas.

The Broncos will play the 49ers in San Francisco on Aug. 17, their second preseason game.
Peyton Manning: I'm not 100 percent yet
by Larry Hartstein | CBSSports.com
(5/6/14) Broncos quarterback Peyton Manning, who threw an NFL-record 55 touchdowns last season, said on the "Late Show with David Letterman" that he's not back to where he was before his 2011 neck surgery, reports NFL.com.

"I'm not 100 percent compared to what I was before my surgery, but I have made strides each season and this year felt a lot better than the year before," he said. "But these nerves just go at their own pace. It's not like it's going to have this immediate recovery one day."

Manning said his accuracy did not return immediately following the surgery.

"It was weak and I lost awareness of my arm in space, a proprioception issue," he said. "So I just use to sit in front of a mirror and go through my throwing motions, trying to get the feel back the way I always thrown before. I was trying to throw to some receivers, so I would throw to you and the ball would go (points finger) there. That was very scary."

Manning, 38, is entering his 17th season.
