|Chad Henne figures to take a back seat |
|by Scott White | Senior Fantasy Writer|
(12/19/13) Even though he's coming off back-to-back-to-back games with two touchdown passes -- the only times he's thrown two touchdown passes all season -- Jaguars quarterback Chad Henne is still one of the more inadvisable starts in Fantasy for Week 16 against the Titans.
For starters, he had arguably his worst performance in a season with no shortage of bad ones when the Jaguars last faced the Titans in Week 10, throwing for 180 yards with two interceptions and no touchdown passes. He isn't the only quarterback to struggle against the Titans this year. They rank 10th against the pass, allowing 225.9 yards per game, and have given up the fourth-fewest Fantasy points to quarterbacks.
The Titans are much more vulnerable to the run, ranking 23rd in yards allowed, so whether Maurice Jones-Drew or Jordan Todman starts at running back for the Jaguars, Henne figures to hand off the football plenty.
None of Jamey Eisenberg, Dave Richard and Nathan Zegura rank him among their top 24 quarterbacks for this week, which is typical. He's nothing more than a last resort in Fantasy.
|Chad Henne throws two touchdowns Week 15 |
|by Chris Cwik | CBSSports.com|
(12/15/13) Jaguars quarterback Chad Henne tossed two touchdowns Week 15 against the Bills.
Henne finished 21 of 36, for 237 yards and two scores. He also ran the ball four times for 22 yards. Henne was limited by Buffalo's strong pass rush. He was sacked five times, but had to rely on the short passing game on other passing plays. Because of that, running back Jordan Todman led the team with eight targets. Henne was also forced into throwing two interceptions due to the Bills rushers.
Henne will take on the Titans Week 16.
|Chad Henne facing poor matchup Week 15 |
|by Chris Cwik | CBSSports.com|
(12/13/13) Jaguars quarterback Chad Henne is facing a below-average matchup Week 15 against the Bills.
Buffalo has done a solid job against opposing quarterbacks, limiting them to 17.62 Fantasy points per game. The team has allowed 25 passing touchdowns, so they are susceptible to big games, but they typically balance that out by picking up some turnovers. The team has 18 interceptions and lead the league with 44 sacks.
Henne has shown a little more upside the past two games, throwing two touchdowns in both games. He's had more opportunities to score, but the team has opted to run trick plays where Maurice Jones-Drew and Ace Sanders have thrown touchdowns. The team has focused on the run game more over the last two games, which has also prevented Henne from throwing for many yards. He continues to be a questionable Fantasy starter.
|Chad Henne solid in another win Thursday |
|by Chris Towers | CBSSports.com|
(12/6/13) Jaguars quarterback Chad Henne led the team to a third straight win Thursday, as they topped the Texans 27-20 in Week 14.
Henne didn't rack up a huge yardage total despite throwing the ball 27 times, as he completed just 12 of those passes. He finished the game with 117 yards, but was able to avoid any mistakes, while throwing for two first-half touchdowns.
Henne still has more interceptions (10) than touchdowns (eight) on the season, but he does have a four-to-one ratio over the last two games. He added a season-high 33 rushing yards Thursday, on four carries. The Jaguars next game is set for Week 15 against the Bills.
|Chad Henne has rough Week 14 matchup |
|by Nando Di Fino | Senior Fantasy Writer|
(12/3/13) Jaguars quarterback Chad Henne completed 22-of-40 passes for 195 yards and two touchdowns in Week 13 against the Browns. He was intercepted once. The 17 Fantasy points were the most he's scored all season.
Henne's Week 14 opponent, the Texans, are fresh in his memory -- the teams faced off in Week 12, when Henne was held to 239 yards and no touchdowns. There's not much hope here for an improvement -- the Texans have allowed the second-fewest passing yards this season (188 per game) and have held opposing quarterbacks to one or fewer touchdowns on five occasions.
Henne's always capable of that out-of-nowhere 300-yard game, but it's probably not happening in Week 14 against one of the league's stingiest pass defenses. He can be left on the waiver wire in most formats.
|Chad Henne earned the right to compete for the starting job with the Jaguars after totaling 11 touchdowns and averaging 267 passing yards per outing in the Jags' final seven games last season. That didn't lead to many wins, but at least he showed he's capable of being a decent passer. Henne will battle Blaine Gabbert for the top job in training camp and while the Jaguars' receiving corps isn't half bad, there's no Fantasy appeal for either Jacksonville quarterback outside of leagues that start multiple signal-callers.
