Dolphins sold on QB Ryan Tannehill

by Larry Hartstein | CBSSports.com
(1/21/15) Dolphins general manager Dennis Hickey said the team is excited about third-year quarterback Ryan Tannehill as the long-term starter, reports the Miami Herald. Tannehill set career highs this season in passing yards (4,045) and passing touchdowns (27) while throwing a career-low 12 interceptions.

"We're excited about what Ryan has brought to the Dolphins," Hickey said. "We're excited about his future with the Dolphins."

The paper said the team must decide whether to negotiate a long-term contract extension with Tannehill "or simply exercise a one-year injury guarantee option that extends Tannehill through the 2016 season."

Tannehill is due $660,000 in 2015, plus a $1.5 million roster bonus.

Consistency remains out of Ryan Tannehill's grasp

by Chris Towers | CBSSports.com
(12/21/14) Dolphins quarterback Ryan Tannehill snapped a streak of disappointing performances in Week 16 against the Vikings, as he put together arguably the finest performance of his career.

Tannehill, who has found his greatest success this season when utilizing his legs, did it all with his arm Sunday. He racked up 396 yards through the air on 35 of 47 passing, the second-best total of his career, and added a career-best four touchdowns, while tossing one interception as well.

Tannehill has taken his game to another level this season, but consistency remains an issue. He has scored 30-plus points in two of the last five games, but had just 40 in the other three combined. He had consecutive 20-plus-point games just twice overall, heading into Week 17 against the Jets.

With the Dolphins announcing they will be keeping coach Joe Philbin around for the 2015 season, Tannehill's job should be secure. His upside is apparent, but he has still shown it only in flashes. He shouldn't be viewed as a top-10 quarterback for Fantasy purposes heading into the offseason.

Dolphins QB Ryan Tannehill posts first 300-yard performance

by Igor Mello | CBSSports.com
(12/14/14) Dolphins quarterback Ryan Tannehill surpassed the 300-yard threshold for the first time this season in Sunday's 41-13 defeat to the Patriots in Week 15.

Tannehill's only touchdown pass came on a desperation 32-yard pass to Mike Wallace, who made an acrobatic catch in the end zone with five seconds remaining in the first half. He was picked off by Duron Harmon in the second quarter and Patrick Chung in the third quarter. Tannehill completed 29 of 47 passes for a season-high 346 yards with one touchdown and two interceptions. He rushed for 21 yards on three carries.

Tannehill has passed for 3,390 yards with 22 touchdowns and 11 interceptions. He has two games left to surpass the 4,000-yard mark for the first time in his three-year career.

Miami will face Minnesota at home in Week 16.

Ryan Tannehill fading at the wrong time

by Chris Towers | CBSSports.com
(12/7/14) Dolphins quarterback Ryan Tannehill posted another subpar effort in Week 14, in a 28-13 loss to the Ravens.

Tannehill had just 15 Fantasy points in Sunday's game, though he avoided any sort of mistakes in the loss. He just did little of note as the Dolphins offense fell completely silent after a few strong early drives. He picked up 227 yards though the air in the game, but rushed for just 6 on two carries, his fifth straight game with fewer than 20 rushing yards.

From Week 4 to Week 9, Tannehill averaged 24.0 Fantasy points per game, a good chunk of which came with his legs, as he averaged 45.4 yards per game on the ground. In five games since, he has just 50 rushing yards total, and is averaging 17.6 Fantasy points per game.

Tannehill is a solid enough passer, but the Dolphins really found another level of success when he was involved as a runner. With teams slowing him down on the ground, Fantasy owners should probably steer clear of Tannehill down the stretch.

Ryan Tannehill struggles in lackluster victory

by Larry Hartstein | CBSSports.com
(12/1/14) Dolphins quarterback Ryan Tannehill was held without a touchdown for the first time this season in Monday's 16-13 win at the Jets. Tannehill completed 25 of 35 throws for 235 yards with an interception, and he ran four times for 13 yards.

Tannehill and wideout Mike Wallace failed to hook up on two potential touchdowns. One was a wildly inaccurate throw, the other a bad drop. Tannehill got picked off in the third quarter when running back Lamar Miller couldn't handle a low throw and the ball ricocheted to cornerback Darrin Walls.

Tannehill also threw a pass directly at linebacker Calvin Pace, but Pace couldn't catch it. Tannehill will try to get back on track Week 14 against the Ravens.
