Eli Manning throws two touchdowns in Week 3 win
by Michael Hurcomb | CBSSports.com
(9/21/14) Giants quarterback Eli Manning threw a pair of touchdowns, and New York earned its first victory of the season during a 30-17 win Week 3 vs. Houston. Manning completed 21 of 28 passes for 234 yards and no touchdowns, finishing with a 123.2 quarterback rating.

He put New York up 7-0 after connecting with Victor Cruz on a 26-yard touchdown pass with 3:21 left in the second quarter. He then gave the Giants a 27-10 lead in the fourth quarter after connecting with Daniel Fells for a 9-yard touchdown with 9:25 left.

Manning almost had a lengthy touchdown pass late in the first quarter, but Cruz couldn't outrun the defense and was dragged down after a 61-yard gain. On the previous drive, Larry Donnell fumbled down inside the 5-yard line after catching a 6-yard pass from Manning.

Manning didn't throw an interception for the first time in eight games dating back to last season. The Giants are back in action Thursday at Washington.

Eli Manning throws two touchdowns in losing effort
by Michael Hurcomb | CBSSports.com
(9/14/14) Giants quarterback Eli Manning threw a pair of touchdowns Sunday against the Cardinals, but New York couldn't overcome four turnovers -- including two Manning interceptions -- in a 25-14 loss Week 2.

Manning got off to a pretty poor start Sunday, as he threw an interception on his fifth passing attempt. Though, Manning did a good job of bouncing back from the interception, as by halftime he had a 100.9 quarterback rating. He completed 12 of 14 passes for 135 yards by halftime, which included a 7-yard touchdown pass to Rueben Randle right before the break.

Manning put New York ahead 14-10 with a 1-yard touchdown pass to Daniel Fells with 2:03 left in the third quarter, but that's when it fell apart for New York. The Giants would turn the ball over three times in the fourth quarter and unofficially had five drops in the second half, including three from star receiver Victor Cruz.

Manning completed 26 of 39 passes for 277 yards in the loss. He rushed for 5 yards and was sacked two times. The Giants are back in action Week 3 vs. Houston.

Cardinals coach offers opinion about Eli Manning's struggles
by Michael Hurcomb | CBSSports.com
(9/11/14) As the Cardinals prepare to play the Giants Week 2, Arizona coach Bruce Arians took time out to talk with the New York media and expressed his views about quarterback Eli Manning, who appears to be struggling as he adjusts to a new offense under first-year coordinator Ben McAdoo.

"I did this with Carson Palmer last year," Arians said, per the New York Daily News. "He had been in the same system pretty much nine years and he has ideas, then you are trying to re-program. It is much easier getting a rookie and brainwashing him than it is to take a veteran and change him totally into a new system.

"I try to never judge a quarterback in a new offense until Week 8."

Arians said Palmer didn't fully understand the new offense until midway through the 2013 season. The Cardinals went 4-4 to begin the year, but finished 6-2 over the last eight games.

"It was Week 8 for us last year," Arians said of when things changed. "Then, all of a sudden, you could see the guys around him start to get it and play faster and play better."

Eli Manning has nightmare Week 1 performance
by Igor Mello | CBSSports.com
(9/8/14) Giants quarterback Eli Manning had a nightmare of a game on Monday against the Lions in week 1.

Manning struggled through his first two drives and his third drive was kept alive due to a roughing the punter penalty. Manning bounced back several plays later with a 1-yard fade pass to Larry Donnell in the end zone for a touchdown in the second quarter.

Manning targeted Donnell again on the opening drive of the second half, but he failed to turn around resulting in an interception.Things didn't get any better for Manning in the third quarter. Manning was picked off by Glover Quin, stalling another drive. He was limited to 163 yards through the air while completing 18 of 33 passes. He threw one touchdown and was picked off twice in a 35-14 defeat. He was sacked twice and finished with a 53.0 passer rating.

Manning will look to get back on track Week 2 at home against Arizona. He hasn't faced the Cardinals since 2011. He carved them up for 321 yards with two touchdowns and no interceptions.
Eli Manning is not worth the risk in Week 1
by Igor Mello | CBSSports.com
(9/4/14) Giants quarterback Eli Manning spent the entire offseason learning a new offense, and he'll get to apply it come Week 1 against the Lions in Detroit on Monday night.

The last time he faced the Lions, he cracked the 250-yard mark. Manning completed 23 of 42 passes for 256 yards, with one touchdown and one interception. He'll look to build off that performance. However, the only difference between last year's meeting is that Manning will be working with a new offensive coordinator, Ben McAdoo.

Each of the last three years, Manning has had at least one 400-yard passing game in the first five weeks of the season. Although he has a somewhat favorable matchup, he's had an extremely rough preseason under the new offense, which leaves us skeptical heading into the season opener. He's way too risky to trust at this point, so leave him on your bench.
