Raiders QB Derek Carr enthused about no-huddle offense

by Larry Hartstein | Senior Analyst
(2/10/15) New Raiders offensive coordinator Bill Musgrave will install a no-huddle offense, and quarterback Derek Carr can't wait, reports ESPN.com.

"My last two years at Fresno State were 100 percent no-huddle, and I love it. I’m very comfortable in it," Carr told the website. "They are building this offense around me, and I’m really excited about it. I lit up when they told me."

Carr said he's unsure how much the Raiders will use the no-huddle, but expects it to be "more than average," the report said. Last year the Raiders mainly used the no-huddle in desperation comeback mode.

This season, look for the no-huddle throughout games.

"We want to play fast," Carr said. "We want to put pressure on the defense. We want to go 100 miles per hour and cause confusion for the defense. It can be a lot of fun."

Musgrave was the quarterbacks coach in Philly last season, working for up-tempo coach Chip Kelly.

Carr actually fumbled twice during the contest, but the Raiders were able to recover one of the loose balls. Carr wasn't much of a threat on the ground, picking up 6 rushing yards on three attempts.

In his rookie season, Carr wound up starting all 16 games for Oakland. He finished with 21 touchdowns against 11 interceptions. Carr threw for 3,270 yards.

With Carr out, Matt Schaub and Matt McGloin split first-team reps. Carr has thrown for 3,112 yards and 20 touchdowns against 11 interceptions, including six scores and no picks in his past three games.

Raiders' Derek Carr dominates San Francisco

by Chris Cwik | CBSSports.com
