Raiders' Derek Carr gets shut down Week 7

by Chris Cwik | CBSSports.com
(10/19/14) Raiders quarterback Derek Carr was shut down by the Cardinals Week 7.

Carr completed 16 of 28 passes for 173 yards. He was unable to throw for any touchdowns, but also did not turn the ball over. Carr took just one sack during the contest, losing nine yards. He also had two rushing attempts, gaining two yards. Carr had a tough time getting things going. He tried to force balls to James Jones and Darren McFadden, but neither was able to get much done with their chances.

Carr will take on the Browns Week 8.

Derek Carr's big day could have been bigger

by Larry Hartstein | CBSSports.com
(10/13/14) Raiders quarterback Derek Carr, who on Sunday became the first Oakland rookie to throw four touchdowns, could have had an even bigger performance against the Chargers. Carr's receivers dropped five of his 34 passes.

"As many balls as I overthrow or miss at practice, I'm never going to be one to rip into somebody," Carr told ESPN.com. "They're professional football players; I don't need to go console them or anything like that. I just go, 'Hey, you're better than that,' and those kinds of things. They already know before I even get to them."

Carr completed 18 of 34 throws for 283 yards with one interception in the 31-28 loss to San Diego. He faces the Cardinals in Week 7.

Derek Carr makes most of weapons

by Scott White | Senior Fantasy Writer
(10/13/14) Making a quick return from a sprained knee and ankle, Raiders quarterback Derek Carr turned in the best performance of his rookie season Week 6 against a Chargers defense that had been the talk of the league, lighting it up for four touchdowns.

But he didn't do it alone.

Wide receiver Andre Holmes deserves much of the credit for the performance. Getting extensive playing time again after shining with backup Matt McGloin in the last quarter-plus of Week 4 against the Dolphins, Holmes beat the defense for a 77-yard touchdown in the first quarter and had a 6-yard grab in the back corner of the end zone in the fourth.

Of course, Carr also had a 6-yard touchdown pass to James Jones in the second quarter and a 47-yard touchdown pass to Brice Butler in the third. All four throws were right on the money.

He completed only 18 of 34 passes overall, though, which is cause for concern, but Carr might have enough playmakers in the receiving corps to have some low-end appeal in two-quarterback leagues, particularly if Holmes stays on the field.

Raiders QB Derek Carr throws career-high four TD passes

by Igor Mello | CBSSports.com
(10/12/14) Raiders quarterback Derek Carr entered Sunday with only four touchdowns passes on the season. He doubled that amount with a career-best four-touchdown performance in a Week 6 home win over the Chargers. He became the first Oakland rookie to throw for four scores.

Carr got off to a fast start, connecting with Andre Holmes for a 77-yard touchdown on his first pass attempt of the day. He found James Jones in the end zone from 6 yards out in the second quarter. He hooked up with Brice Butler for a 44-yard touchdown strike in the third quarter and Holmes again for a 6-yard score in the fourth quarter. An interception to Jason Verrett with 1:13 remaining in the game proved to be costly for Carr in a 31-28 defeat.

Carr compiled 283 yards through the air while completing 18 of 34 passes. He added four touchdowns and one interception, registering a 107.8 passer rating. Carr will look to bounce back Week 7 at home against Arizona.

Raiders rule QB Derek Carr active for Week 6

by Igor Mello | CBSSports.com
(10/12/14) As expected, Raiders quarterback Derek Carr was ruled active for Week 6 at home against the Chargers. Carr suffered an MCL sprain and high ankle sprain Week 4 against the Dolphins, but a bye week gave him enough time to recover for Sunday's divisional game. It will be his first game under interim head coach Tony Sparano.
