Rank Among Leaders
|Nick Foles looks to improve on 428-yard performance |
|by Larry Hartstein | CBSSports.com|
(12/17/13) With 26 touchdowns against three turnovers, Eagles quarterback Nick Foles ranks third in weekly scoring (23.9) in standard Fantasy leagues entering Week 16. Only Peyton Manning and Drew Brees score more.
Foles is coming off a career-high 428 passing yards in the loss at Minnesota, and he ran for 41 more. It was actually one of his poorer efforts. He underthrew DeSean Jackson for his second interception this season and piled up much of his yardage against soft coverage.
"I definitely missed some throws," Foles told the Philadelphia Inquirer. "I was high on a few and inaccurate on a few, and those are things that you go back to the film and see why it was."
The Bears give up the 8th-fewest Fantasy points (16.7 per game) to quarterbacks and have allowed one 300-yard passing game all year. But Foles is matchup-proof at this point. He's thrown at least three touchdowns in four of his past six starts.
CBSSports.com senior Fantasy experts Jamey Eisenberg and Dave Richard rate Foles the No. 2 quarterback play behind Peyton Manning for Fantasy's championship week.
|Nick Foles has another strong game Week 15 |
|by Chris Cwik | CBSSports.com|
(12/15/13) Eagles quarterback Nick Foles turned in another big game Week 15 against the Vikings.
Foles finished the contest 30 for 48, with 428 yards and three touchdowns. Foles also managed to throw a two-point conversion. He had one interception. DeSean Jackson was Foles' primary target. Foles targeted Jackson 16 times, and connected on 10 of those throws. The team had a tough time running against Minnesota, so Foles had to air it out against a poor Vikings secondary. Foles also ran the ball five times for 41 yards, which actually led the team.
He'll look to continue his hot streak Week 16 against the Bears.
|Nick Foles a fine Fantasy play against Lions |
|by Marty Gitlin | CBSSports.com|
(12/4/13) Fantasy owners of Eagles quarterback Nick Foles should not only thank Nick Foles for the production of Nick Foles. They should also thank a 32nd-ranked Philadelphia pass defense that forces Foles to try to keep up by throwing the ball.
Not that Foles hasn't risen to the occasion. The Eagles are 5-2 since he was moved into the starting lineup. He has completed 124 of 196 passes for 1,791 yards, 19 touchdowns and - get this - zero interceptions. He has even added 145 yards and two scores on the ground.
More encouraging this week is that he is playing at home against pass-happy Detroit and a high-scoring game should result. The Lions rank 26th in the NFL in passing yards allowed (3,147) and 19th in touchdowns yielded through the air (21).
Foles is so torrid that a statistical correction could happen any week. But the combination of an explosive Lions pass offense against a terrible Eagles pass defense makes it unlikely that Foles won't put up big numbers on Sunday. The three CBSSports.com senior Fantasy writers all rank Foles in the top six among NFL quarterbacks in Week 14. Sounds about right - he should be active in all formats.
|Nick Foles has three touchdowns in win |
|by Nando Di Fino | Senior Fantasy Writer|
(12/1/13) Eagles quarterback Nick Foles completed 21-of-34 passes for 237 yards and three touchdowns in Sunday's 24-21 win over the Cardinals. It was the third time in his last four games with three or more touchdowns.
Foles, who also ran nine times for 22 yards, avoided throwing his first interception this season in close fashion; a fourth quarter pass was picked off by Patrick Peterson, but called back on a Cardinals penalty. Otherwise, Foles looked efficient throughout the game, throwing deep on occasion and being the same quarterback he was before the bye.
Foles and the Eagles face the Lions in Week 14.
|Eagles quarterback Michael Vick's career isn't over yet, but being the starter in 2013 is far from guaranteed. He has to compete for the starting job with Nick Foles and possibly rookie Matt Barkley, but we expect Vick to win the job. After being a star in 2010 he has faltered the past two years, and he has to rebuild his on-field reputation again in a new system for coach Chip Kelly. On the surface, Kelly's up-tempo offense suits Vick's style of play, but we have to find out if the two can mesh. Vick also has to deal with the loss of Jeremy Maclin (ACL) and hope DeSean Jackson can return to form. But Vick's problems remain the same: he's injury prone and prone to mistakes. If he starts 16 games we can still see him posting quality stats, but that's no guarantee since he hasn't finished a full season since 2006. He enters this season as a No. 2 Fantasy quarterback, and he's worth drafting with a late-round pick. If you have reasonable expectations for Vick then he'll be a good selection on Draft Day. But if you go in expecting Vick to play like 2010 again then you can expect to be disappointed because it's unlikely that quarterback will ever be seen again. (Updated 7/28/13) |
