Russell Wilson could be in for strong finish

by Scott White | Senior Fantasy Writer
(11:50 am ET) With the Cardinals struggling to get anything going offensively behind third-string quarterback Ryan Lindley, the Seahawks offense got repeated opportunities to shine Week 16 in Arizona. And quarterback Russell Wilson took advantage, throwing for a season-high 339 yards while rushing for 88. For the second time in three games, he contributed three total touchdowns, two in the air and one on the ground.

The Seahawks have gotten back to winning with their defense in recent weeks, making Wilson at times an afterthought. But when pressed to make plays, he's shown he's still capable of putting up big numbers.

Chances are he'll need to make plays in Week 17 against a Rams team that has played well of late, particularly on the defensive side of the ball. Wilson's previous season high in passing yards came in his first meeting with them back in Week 7, when he threw for 313 and ran for 106. Despite his up-and-down tendencies, you'll want him active for the season's final week.

Seahawks QB Russell Wilson picks up three scores Week 16

by Chris Cwik | CBSSports.com
(12/21/14) Seahawks quarterback Russell Wilson turned in a fantastic start Week 16 against the Cardinals.

Wilson completed 20 of 31 passes for 339 yards and two scores. Despite playing one of the tougher defenses in the NFL, Wilson did not turn the ball over during the contest. He had a mostly clear pocket, or at least was able to escape when things got muddy, taking just one sack. When Wilson did have time, he was able to hit on big play, averaging 10.9 yards per completion.

On top of that, Wilson turned in a fine game on the ground. An early 55 yard run started things off, but a late 5 yard scramble really put the nail in the coffin. Wilson stiff-armed a defender on his way to the end zone.

Wilson will take on the Rams Week 17.

Seahawks' Russell Wilson throws for one score Week 15

by Chris Cwik | CBSSports.com
(12/14/14) Seahawks quarterback Russell Wilson threw for one touchdown Week 15 against the 49ers.

Wilson completed 12 of 24 passes for 168 yards and a score during the contest. It wound up being a fairly tame game for Wilson, as the San Francisco defense was able to put pressure on him most of the day. Wilson wound up taking five sacks, and turned the ball over on an interception. He wasn't as much of a threat on the ground, either, gaining just 27 rushing yards.

Wilson will hope for more Week 16 against the Cardinals.

Seahawks' Russell Wilson picks up three scores Week 14

by Chris Cwik | CBSSports.com
(12/7/14) Seahawks quarterback Russell Wilson picked up three scores Week 14 against the Eagles.

Wilson completed 22 of 37 passes for 263 yards and two passing touchdowns. He did not turn the ball over during the contest. Wilson was able to use his escapability in the pocket to extend some plays. While he was sacked twice, he also managed to break free and find receivers often. Wilson averaged 7.1 yards per attempt. As usual, he was also a threat in the running game. Wilson ran the ball 10 times for 48 yards. He was able to break free on a 26 yard touchdown run in the second quarter, tying the game up.

Wilson will look for more Week 15 against the 49ers.

Russell Wilson may be forced to pass more

by Scott White | Senior Fantasy Writer
(12/4/14) If you have yet to put your faith back in Seahawks quarterback Russell Wilson with his recent turnaround -- he has averaged 21.7 Fantasy points over his last three games, according to standard CBSSports.com scoring -- his matchup Week 14 at Philadelphia might be that last little push you need.

The Eagles rank 26th against the pass, giving up 258.6 yards per game, and have allowed the fourth-most Fantasy points per game to quarterbacks. Their opponents are pretty much forced to pass against them just to keep from falling too far behind. The Eagles are averaging 31.3 points per game, fourth-most in the league, and have been even more productive with Mark Sanchez under center, averaging 34.4 in their last five.

Of course, they haven't had to face the Seahawks during that stretch, who are back to being a dominant defensive team. If their defense steps up against a strong offense, Wilson may not be needed for big numbers, which is always the risk for him.

But based on how his last few weeks have gone and how much better the Eagles are offensively than the Seahawks' last few opponents, more likely than not, Wilson has good things in store. Jamey Eisenberg and Dave Richard both rank him among their top 10 quarterbacks for this week.
