Panthers Cuts: K Olindo Mare, P Nick Harris waived
The Carolina Panthers made their first round of cuts and settled the kicker and punter position battles. K Olindo Mare and P Nick Harris, who combined for more than 400 NFL games, were cut.

Panthers Inactives: WR Steve Smith will not dress against Jets
Five Carolina Panthers will not dress for Sunday's preseason game against the Jets. WR Steve Smith, battling a foot infection is inactive for the game, as are LB Jon Beason and CB Brandon Hogan.
