Cowboys' DeMarcus Lawrence to return to practice Wednesday
|by R.J. White | CBSSports.com|
|(10/14/14) Cowboys defensive end DeMarcus Lawrence will practice Wednesday for the first time since fracturing his foot in practice in late July, the Dallas Morning News reports.
Lawrence said Tuesday afternoon that his foot "felt excellent," adding, "I’ve been playing football all my life, so I don’t feel like I’m way behind, but I feel like I’m going to have to get better, quicker."
Lawrence is on the short-term IR and ineligbile to play in a game until Week 9. The Cowboys have jumped out to a 5-1 start without the second-round rookie.

DeMarcus Lawrence remains on crutches

|(8/19/14) Cowboys defensive end Demarcus Lawrence remains on crutches and is still several weeks from returning to practice, the Dallas Morning News reports.
"It feels great. Surgery went well," Lawrence said. "I’m glad it happened now than later. It set me back a little physically. I know I’m going to have to be into my playbook and the weight room now. Knowing that I’m coming back soon, maybe in the next month or two, keeps my head high."
Lawrence had surgery to repair a broken foot July 31 and will remain on crutches for the first month of his recovery. He's set for a doctor's visit Sept. 4.
Cowboys scrambling at defensive end
|by Larry Hartstein | CBSSports.com|
|(7/30/14) With rookie Demarcus Lawrence expected to miss 8-12 weeks with a fractured foot, the Cowboys are thin at defensive end. Jeremy Mincey and George Selvie are running with the first team, and Martez Wilson and rookie Ben Gardner could get into the mix, reports the Dallas Morning News.
Dallas hopes Anthony Spencer can return from his microfracture surgery. He's currently on the PUP list.
|The Cowboys drafted rookie defensive end DeMarcus Lawrence in the second round of the NFL Draft from Boise State. He fills a huge need for the Cowboys, who lost their top two pass rushers this offseason in DeMarcus Ware and Jason Hatcher. Lawrence spent two seasons at Boise State and finished with 20 sacks, seven forced fumbles and 33.5 tackles for loss, and he could be a quality Fantasy option in IDP leagues right away if he can get to the quarterback. We'd take a late-round flier on Lawrence in re-draft IDP leagues, and he's worth a mid-round pick in rookie/dynasty IDP formats. The Cowboys need him to play big right away, and if he comes through than Fantasy owners should benefit as well.
