Ball security a focus for Giants TE Larry Donnell
|by Larry Hartstein | CBSSports.com|
|(10/22/14) The Giants are stressing ball security with breakout tight end Larry Donnell, who lost two fumbles in the fourth quarter of Sunday's loss at Dallas. "It's one of those things we preach on a daily basis, whether it be technique or focus on the football," tight ends coach Kevin M. Gilbride told The Star-Ledger.
"And that's something he knows he needs to improve on. He knows it hurt our football team."
Donnell has lost three fumbles in seven games this season. The Giants are on a bye this week.
Larry Donnell here to stay?

|(10/20/14) After catching just one pass in his previous two games combined, Giants tight end Larry Donnell got back on track Week 7 at Dallas, catching seven passes for a season-high 90 yards.
Considering it was the Giants' first game without star wide receiver Victor Cruz, Donnell was expected to play a bigger role in the passing game, but a resurgence of this magnitude should remind us all how he came to be owned in 83 percent of Fantasy leagues in the first place. Over the first four weeks, he averaged 6.3 catches for 59 yards, scoring four touchdowns.
One potential pitfall for Donnell is that he lost two fumbles in Week 7, giving him three fumbles lost for the season, but with so few tight ends capable of his kind of production in a given week, the Giants would have to suggest his playing time is in jeopardy for me to pass on Donnell in Fantasy.
His production fell when rookie wide receiver Odell Beckham entered the mix in Week 4. Now that Cruz is out of the mix, Donnell's production figures to rise again.
Giants TE Larry Donnell leads the way Week 7

|(10/19/14) Giants tight end Larry Donnell had a mixed game Week 7 against the Cowboys.
Donnell led the club with seven receptions and 90 yards during the game. He also turned the ball over twice, losing two fumbles. Both fumbles came in the fourth quarter, as the Giants were attempting to come back against the Cowboys. Donnell is on a bye Week 8.
Larry Donnell could be reborn
|by Scott White | Senior Fantasy Writer|
|(10/16/14) You're probably not all that motivated to start Giants tight end Larry Donnell Week 7 at Dallas. He has all of one catch for 6 yards the last two weeks combined. But with Victor Cruz lost to a season-ending knee injury, the Giants need to find some new targets for quarterback Eli Manning. And Donnell has already shown he's capable of an expanded role, having averaged 6.3 catches for 59.0 yards with four touchdowns over the first four weeks.
Better yet, he might be Manning's best choice for this particular matchup. The Cowboys rank a modest 12th against the pass, allowing 227.5 yards per game, but they've given up the third-fewest Fantasy points per game to wide receivers. Meanwhile, they've given up the most Fantasy points per game to tight ends.
Certainly, if you have Julius Thomas, Rob Gronkowski, Greg Olsen, Martellus Bennett and maybe Jordan Reed and Antonio Gates, you wouldn't give a player like Donnell a second thought. But otherwise, he might be your best choice at tight end despite his production the last two weeks.
TE Donnell ready for 'whatever role' Giants need in wake of Cruz injury
|by Michael Hurcomb | CBSSports.com|
|(10/16/14) With Victor Cruz sidelined the rest of the season with a major knee injury, the Giants will need options in the passing game to step up in his absence. One of those options could be tight end Larry Donnell, who has been held to one catch over his last two games after totaling 25 catches for 236 yards and four touchdowns in his first four games.
"Whatever role is thrown at me, I'm going to do everything I can to do my best and it's just not me," Donnell said, per NJ.com. "It's Rueben (Randle), Odell (Beckham), it's going to be a team effort.
"Victor was a major part and took a lot of attention away from everyone. Me, I feel very confident."

|Larry Donnell will compete for a roster spot for the Giants this season as a reserve tight end. Even if he makes the final roster he has minimal Fantasy value in the majority of leagues. Ignore him in all formats on Draft Day. He only had three catches for 31 yards in 2013.
