Cardinals DST continues to impress

by Chris Towers | CBSSports.com
(12/7/14) The Cardinals defense put together a strong performance in Week 14, in a 17-14 win over the Chiefs.

The Cardinals allowed 390 yards of offense, and largely shut the Chiefs down in the second half of the game. The Chiefs were held off the board after halftime, and the Cardinals came up with five sacks and forced two turnovers to come out on top in the defensive struggle.

The Cardinals DST has been among the best in the game all season long, and have now scored at least 10 Fantasy points in nine of the last 10 games. They could continue their success in Week 15, with the Rams on the schedule. The Cardinals had 32 Fantasy points in their last matchup with the Rams.

(11/17/14) The Cardinals defense shut the Lions down in Week 11, in a 14-6 win Sunday.

The Lions managed just 262 yards of total offense against the Cardinals, as the defense showed no signs of weakness. The Cardinals forced one turnover in the win, and sacked quarterback Matthew Stafford four times en route to a 16-point Fantasy effort.

The Cardinals DST unit is enjoying quite an impressive run, having recorded 10 or more Fantasy points in six straight games. They will look to keep the streak up in Week 12 against the Seahawks.

The Cardinals DST unit racked up their third double-digit Fantasy scoring game in a row Sunday, on the strength of three turnovers forced. They did little otherwise, allowing 411 yards of total offense while failing to record a single sack in the win.

The Cardinals have posted three straight games with at least 10 Fantasy points, a streak they will be putting on the line in Week 9 against the Cowboys.

(9/21/14) The Cardinals defense shutout the 49ers in the second half Sunday, which allowed the offense to rally from a 14-6 halftime deficit and secure a 23-14 win Week 3.

The 49ers, who had a pair of first-half touchdowns, finished with 318 yards, including 82 rushing yards.

The Cardinals defensive forced no turnovers and recorded one sack. Safety Tony Jefferson totaled a team-high 10 tackles (eight solo) and had the quarterback takedown of Colin Kaepernick. Safety Rashad Johnson had eight solo tackles and safety Tyrann Mathieu had six solo tackles.

The Cardinals are on a Week 4 bye before returning to action Week 5 at Denver.

(9/14/14) The Cardinals ended up allowing 341 yards (81 rushing) Week 2 against the Giants, but Arizona forced four turnovers, which was key in a 25-14 win.

Arizona forced two interceptions and two fumbles Sunday. They also sacked Giants quarterback Eli Manning two times.

The special teams unit also got involved in the win, as returner Ted Ginn brought back a punt 71 yards for a touchdown with 10:10 remaining, giving Arizona the go-ahead score.
