|Falcons DST struggles against Buffalo Week 13 |
|by Chris Cwik | CBSSports.com|
(12/1/13) The Falcons DST had a tough time Week 13 against the Bills.
Atlanta has typically been vulnerable through the air, but the Bills were able to destroy them on the ground. C.J. Spiller managed to find his form, picking up 149 yards on 15 carries. He, Fred Jackson and EJ Manuel all scored rushing touchdowns against Atlanta. The team allowed at least 30 points for the sixth time this season. Though the Falcons had no sacks and no interceptions, they were able to force turnovers when needed. The team forced two turnovers late in the game, including one that led to the game-winning field goal.
The Falcons will take on the Packers Week 14.
|Falcons DST facing favorable matchup Week 13 |
|by Chris Cwik | CBSSports.com|
(11/27/13) The Falcons DST is looking at a favorable matchup Week 13 against the Bills.
Buffalo has allowed opposing defenses to post 10.18 Fantasy points per game, which ranks in the lower-third of the league. The revolving door at quarterback has allowed defenses to take advantage of the Bills. The team has really struggled with protection of those quarterbacks, allowing 32 sacks this year. They've also fumbled the ball 20 times, which is one of the highest rates in the league.
The Falcons have not been a particularly strong defense this year, ranking 29th in team defense. They've been susceptible in the passing game, giving up 23 passing touchdowns through 11 games. On top of that, they've also allowed eight rushing touchdowns, so they've struggled in both phases. Though the team has a good matchup, it's tough to trust the Falcons DST any week.
|Falcons surprisingly sturdy vs. Saints |
|by Chris Towers | CBSSports.com|
(11/22/13) The Falcons DST unit was surprisingly effective in Week 12, holding the mighty Saints offense to just two touchdowns in a 17-13 loss.
The Saints amassed 374 yards of total offense in the game, their lowest total since Week 6. The two touchdowns allowed by the Falcons on defense both came through the air, though the Saints were held without a touchdown throughout the entire second half of the game.
Unfortunately, though the Falcons largely held New Orleans in check, a lack of big plays doomed their Fantasy prospects. Atlanta's defense picked up just one sack, and forced no turnovers in the loss.
Given the Saints' high-powered offense, this was a pretty solid performance by the Falcons DST unit. They could turn that success into better Fantasy production in Week 13, with the Bills on the schedule.
|Falcons have tough Week 12 matchup |
|by Nando Di Fino | Senior Fantasy Writer|
(11/21/13) The Falcons started the season with promise -- two double-digit Fantasy games in the first three. But they've been pretty brutal, Fantasy-wise, ever since. Over the last four weeks, the Falcons have averaged just under four Fantasy points per game. They've given up 33 or more real-life points in three of the last four games.
With the high-powered New Orleans offense rolling into town, things look even worse for the Falcons. The two teams faced off in Week 1, with the Falcons DST scoring just six Fantasy points.
Keep the Falcons on the waiver wire for this tough Thursday night matchup. Week 12 could be ugly for this Fantasy unit.
|Falcons' defensive struggles continue |
|by Scott White | Senior Fantasy Writer|
(11/18/13) Looking to bounce back against a one-win Buccaneers team, the Falcons instead allowed a season-high 41 points on 410 yards Week 11 at Tampa Bay. They did get two sacks from defensive lineman Osi Umenyiora but didn't have a single takeaway.
The Falcons have just four takeaways in their last seven games. They've allowed 31.1 points per game during that stretch.
Clearly, you'll want to avoid the Falcons DST with the Saints coming to town in Week 12.
