Bills overwhelm rookie QB in win

by Chris Towers | CBSSports.com
(10/19/14)  The Bills defense bounced back nicely from a blowout loss last week, in a 17-16 win over the Vikings in Week 7.

The Bills DST overwhelmed the Vikings' offensive line for five sacks, and they also took advantage of Teddy Bridgewater's youthful struggles. Bridgewater was picked off twice in the game, and the Vikings racked up just 15 points on 276 yards of total offense in the Bills' win.

The Bills DST unit finished Sunday's game with 15 Fantasy points, their fifth double-digit effort in seven contests. They head into solid matchup next with the Jets in Week 8.

Bills' pass rush could overwhelm Vikings

by Chris Towers | CBSSports.com
(10/16/14) The Bills enter Week 7 ranked sixth in Fantasy scoring among DST units, and could improve on that with a matchup against the Vikings on the way.

The Vikings' offense looked solid in Teddy Bridgewater's first start in Week 4, but things have not gone well since. The Packers and Lions' DST units have racked up 52 combined Fantasy points against the Vikings over the last two games on the strength of 14 sacks, five interceptions and two forced fumbles.

The Vikings' offense has a lot of potential, but that is for the future. Right now it is sputtering, and the Bills' pass rush, which ranks second in the league in sacks, should find success. Consider the Bills a solid starting option for Week 7.

Bills DST gets little help in loss

by Chris Towers | CBSSports.com
(9/28/14) The Bills DST unit played well enough in Week 4 against the Texans, as they allowed just one offensive touchdown in a 23-17 loss.

The Bills allowed just 301 yards of total offense to the Texans, with much of Houston's offense coming on long field goals. The Bills forced three turnovers in the game, including two interceptions, and they also sacked quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick twice.

The Bills have done a decent job defensively this season, as Sunday's game was their season-high in points allowed. They take on the Lions in Week 5, in Detroit.

Bills DST a non-factor in loss to Chargers

by Chris Towers | CBSSports.com
(9/21/14) The Bills DST unit did little of note Sunday, in a 22-10 loss to the Chargers in Week 3.

The Bills defense mostly held the Chargers in check, limiting them to 336 yards and just two touchdown drives, but a lack of big players hurt them. The Bills managed just one sack in the loss, while failing to record a single turnover.

The Bills DST unit was coming off a dominant showing against the Dolphins in Week 2, and will look to get back on track in Week 4 against the Texans.

Bills dominate Dolphins with defense, special teams

by Chris Towers | CBSSports.com
(9/14/14) The Bills put together a strong all-around performance in Week 2 against the Dolphins, with contributions from special teams and defense in a 29-10 win Sunday.

The Bills defense limited the Dolphins to just 290 yards of total offense and 10 points, all of which came in the third quarter. They also sacked Dolphins quarterback Ryan Tannehill four times in the game, while forcing a pair of turnovers.

One of those turnovers came by way of a muffed punt by the Dolphins on special teams. The Bills also contributing a special teams touchdown with C.J. Spiller's 102-yard kickoff return touchdown in the third quarter to put them up for good.

The Bills DST unit has contributed double digits in scoring in each of the first two games, and will look to keep the good times rolling when they take on the Chargers in Week 3.
