Cowboys defense gets the job done
|by Chris Towers | CBSSports.com|
|(10/5/14) The Cowboys held the Texans to just two offensive touchdowns Sunday, in a 20-17 win in Week 5.
The Cowboys allowed just 330 yards of total offense and held the Texans to just one touchdown through three quarters before a late rally. Though they held the Texans at bay, the Cowboys defense failed to contribute much in the way of big plays, forcing just one turnover and recording no sacks.
The Cowboys continue to play over expectations defensively, and enter Week 6 against the Seahawks allowing 20.6 points per game through five games.

|(9/14/14) The Cowboys defense stepped up in a big way during a 26-10 win Week 2 at Tennessee. Dallas held Tennessee to 314 yards (82 rushing) and one offensive touchdown Sunday.
The defense had a strong showing in the first half, as the Cowboys jumped out to a 16-0 lead by halftime. Titans quarterback Jake Locker completed just 4 of 12 passes for 26 yards in the first half.
Dallas finished with two interceptions and sacked Locker two times. The Cowboys are back in action Week 3 at St. Louis.
Cowboys DST has a tough time Week 1

|(9/7/14) The Cowboys DST had a tough game Week 1 against the 49ers.
The Dallas offense did the team no favors in the first quarter. A fumble lead to a San Francisco score on the first drive of the game. On the team's third drive, Tony Romo threw an interception that was returned to the 2-yard line. The 49ers were able to score on the next play.
The Dallas DST gave up two additional touchdowns during the contest. The team did not force any interceptions, and managed just one sack. Dallas failed to force any fumbles.
The Dallas DST will look to improve Week 2 against the Titans.
Cowboys DST to have their hands full Week 1
|by Chris Cwik | CBSSports.com|
|(9/5/14) The Cowboys DST should have their hands full Week 1 against the 49ers.
Dallas had one of the worst defenses in the league last season. While the club attempted to make changes in the draft, it's hard to expect a major turnaround based on rookies. On top of that, the team's best cornerback, Orlando Scandrick, will miss Week 1 due to a suspension.
The 49ers were not slouches offensively last year. The team allowed opposing defenses to put up just 6.79 Fantasy points per game. That figure ranked as the fifth-lowest in the league. The 49ers offense went through some growing pains during the preseason, but there's still plenty of talent there.
Considering the Cowboys recent track record, and San Francisco's ability to put up big offensive numbers, the Cowboys are not a recommended start in Fantasy Week 1.

Defensive end Jarius Wynn also registered a sack for Dallas, which had just 16 sacks over its previous 12 games. The Cowboys DST added to the franchise record for yards allowed by giving up 366 in the 24-22 loss.
