Lions worth an add this week
by Chris Towers | CBSSports.com
(2:40 pm ET) With the Bills and newly minted starting quarterback Kyle Orton on the schedule, Jamey Eisenberg has the Lions as his top waiver-wire add among DST units for Week 5.

Opposing DST units have enjoyed solid success against the Bills in recent weeks, with the Chargers and Texans both scoring in double figures. A big part of that was the subpar play of quarterback EJ Manuel, who threw a pick-six to the Texans a week ago. Whether Orton, who has started just one game since 2011, will be an improvement is still to be seen, however the Lions' pass rush has been dominant at times this season, and could make life hard on Orton.

The Lions should be worth starting in Week 5, given how well they are playing right now.

Lions hold Jets to two touchdowns in win
by Chris Towers | CBSSports.com
(9/28/14) The Lions DST unit did a solid job for the second straight week Sunday, in a 24-17 win over the Jets in Week 4.

The Lions allowed two second-half touchdowns to sully an otherwise strong performance, but they did a solid job in limiting the Jets to just 336 yards of total offense. They forced a pair of turnovers and sacked Geno Smith twice to boot.

The Lions have allowed fewer than 20 points in three of four games, and will have a pretty good chance to do so again in Week 5 against the Bills.

Lions DST holds Packers in check Week 3
by Chris Cwik | CBSSports.com
(9/21/14) The Lions DST held the Packers in check Week 3.

Detroit got on the board early, scooping up a fumble recovery for a score. The team wouldn't let up during the game, giving up just one touchdown to the power-house Packers. While the Lions didn't force any interceptions, they did pick up two sacks and forced a fumble.

The Lions will hope for more Week 4 against the Jets.

Lions have a field day against the Giants
by Igor Mello | CBSSports.com
(9/8/14) The Lions had a field day in a convincing Week 1 win at home over the Giants.

Detroit took advantage of a struggling Eli Manning, limiting him to only 163 yards through the air. DeAndre Levy and Glover Quin each stepped up with an interception. The Lions sacked two times and allowed only 197 yards of total offense in a 35-14 victory.

Detroit will travel to Carolina for a showdown against the Panthers in Week 2.
Lions DST in store for monster Week 1 performance
by Igor Mello | CBSSports.com
(9/6/14) The Lions could be in for a monster performance come Week 1 at home Monday night against the Giants.

The last time he faced the Lions, he cracked the 250-yard mark. Manning completed 23 of 42 passes for 256 yards, with one touchdown and one interception. However, if the play of Eli Manning in the preseason is any indicator of what is to come from New York's offense, the Lions should have an excellent night. It seems as if Manning will need the first couple of weeks of the season to fully grasp the new offense.

Fantasy owners should consider the Lions DST as a strong starting option in the majority of formats for the opening week of the season.
