Dolphins fall flat in Week 2 loss
by Chris Towers | CBSSports.com
(7:53 pm ET) The Dolphins DST unit faltered Sunday, in a 29-10 loss to the Bills in what looked to be an easy matchup.

The Dolphins limited the Bills to just 315 yards of total offense, but suffered from a serious lack of big plays. The Bills put up 29 points on the Dolphins, despite scoring a touchdown in just one of six trips to the red zone. The Dolphins forced no turnovers and had no sacks in the game either.

Big things were expected from the Dolphins DST unit this week, after they overpowered the Patriots in Week 1. They will look to bounce back when they take on the Chiefs in Week 3.

Dolphins gets after QB in win
by Chris Towers | CBSSports.com
(9/8/14) The Dolphins rushed the passer well in Sunday's 33-20 win over the Patriots in Week 1, and Olivier Vernon and Chris McCain were part of the reason why.

Vernon had one of the team's four sacks, to go with three solo tackles in the win. McCain, appearing in his first NFL game, made an impact on defense and special teams. He blocked a punt early in the game and came up with his first NFL sack later.

Four sacks, two turnovers highlight Dolphins opener
by Chris Towers | CBSSports.com
(9/7/14) The Dolphins defense put together a strong performance in Week 1, as they shut down the Patriots offense for much of a 33-20 win.

The Dolphins were gashed for 20 points in the first half, but much of that came as the result of short fields for the Patriots' offense. The defense buckled down in a big way in the second half as they shut the Patriots out, while forcing two turnovers on strip sacks by Cameron Wake. The Dolphins had four sacks overall, while limiting the Patriots to just 315 yards on 80 total plays.

The Dolphins DST unit won't face many tougher opponents than they did in Week 1, so the question will be whether they can keep this kind of performance up moving forward. They take on the Bills in Week 2.

Dolphins defense opens with unenviable matchup
by Chris Towers | CBSSports.com
(9/6/14) It is never a good sign when the Patriots show up on the schedule for a defense, and the Dolphins DST unit seems unlikely to have a good time in Week 1's matchup Sunday.

The Dolphins failed to crack double digits in Fantasy scoring in either of their two matchups against the Patriots last season, as they totaled just 16 points. And, though Rob Gronkowski is expected to be limited in Week 1 as he returns from knee surgery, there is little reason to think that portends good things to come for Miami; Gronkowski played just half the team's snaps in one game last season, while missing the other entirely.

Opposing DST units averaged just 5.7 Fantasy points per game against the Patriots, and there is little reason to think their offense will be any worse this season. The Dolphins rank outside of the top-24 in both our experts' rankings for Week 1, and should be avoided in nearly as Fantasy leagues this Sunday.

Dolphins flop vs. lowly Jets
by Chris Towers | CBSSports.com
(12/29/13) The Dolphins should have been able to handle a subpar Jets offense easily in Week 17, but came out flat in a 20-7 loss.

The Jets had one of their best offensive games of the season, racking up 370 yards of total offense, their fourth-highest total of the season. The Dolphins had little answer for the Jets' rushing game, and were unable to force a turnover or come up with a sack in the loss.

The Dolphins DST unit had some solid stretches this season, but weren't particularly consistent. This unit has some solid pieces, but is likely to be more of a low-end Fantasy option on Draft Day next season.
