Vikings DST limits Detroit to 13 points
by Chris Cwik | CBSSports.com
(12/29/13) The Vikings DST had a solid game Week 17 against the Lions.

The team did a solid job limiting the Lions' running game. Without Calvin Johnson, Detroit had a tough time getting things going offensively. The Vikings did a great job putting pressure on Matthew Stafford, sacking him five times. They also forced a fumble, but could not come up with the recovery.

Vikings DST struggles against Eagles

(12/15/13) The Vikings DST had a tough time containing the Eagles Week 15.

DeSean Jackson obliterated Minnesota's defense, catching 10 balls for 195 yards. Nick Foles also had a huge game, throwing for 428 yards and three touchdowns. The Vikings were able to put some pressure on Foles, forcing him to throw his second interception of the season. They were also able to sack Foles four times. It didn't really matter, though, as the team allowed 30 points.

The Vikings DST will take on the Bengals Week 16.

Vikings surrender game-winning score with 4 seconds left
by Michael Hurcomb | CBSSports.com
(12/8/13) The Vikings and Ravens were mired in quite the defensive battle Week 14, as both teams tried to get their footing amid heavy snowfall. But the end of the game turned into quite an entertaining back-and-forth affair, as there was five lead changes in the final 2:05.

The Vikings held Baltimore to one touchdown through three quarters, and Baltimore held Minnesota to two field goals in three quarters. Minnesota didn't get its first touchdown until early in the fourth quarter, and Baltimore didn't get its second touchdown until there was 2:05 remaining on a 1-yard catch from Dennis Pitta.

The Vikings then reclaimed the lead at 19-15 after Toby Gerhart scored on a 41-yard touchdown run with 1:27 left. Immediately after Gerhart's touchdown, Jacoby Jones returned the ensuing kickoff 77 yards for a touchdown, putting Baltimore ahead 22-19.

The fun didn't stop there. Cordarrelle Patterson put Minnesota back ahead 26-22 with 45 seconds remaining after taking a reception 79 yards for a touchdown. The Vikings defense needed to make just one more stand to come away with the win, but it could not. Marlon Brown tallied a 9-yard touchdown with 4 seconds remaining, as Baltimore secured a 29-26 win.

The Ravens finished with 325 yards, including 97 rushing. The Vikings picked off three passes and had two sacks. Minnesota's next opponent is Philadelphia in Week 15.

Steer clear of Vikings DST despite good matchup
by Michael Hurcomb | CBSSports.com
(12/4/13) The Vikings won their third game of the season Week 13 vs. Chicago, rallying for a 23-20 overtime win. The Vikings' defense made a late stand, shutting out Chicago in the fourth quarter and overtime, but Minnesota still ended up surrendering 480 yards -- the second-most yards the Vikings have allowed this season.

The Vikings will look for their first two-game winning streak Week 14 at Baltimore. Luckily for the defense, the Ravens don't have a high-powered offense. Baltimore ranks 29th in total offense (309 yards per game) and 25th in scoring offense (20.8 points per game).

Still, the Vikings have had trouble slowing down everyone this season. They haven't held an opponent under 20 points and have held just one opponent under 300 total yards in 12 games.

DSTs are averaging 11.4 Fantasy points per week against the Ravens, which is the eighth-highest average. Only three times have DSTs scored less than 10 points against the Ravens, with the Steelers doing it twice.

While on paper it looks like a favorable matchup, you have to be real gutsy to start the Vikings DST Week 14.

Vikings give up 480 yards in Week 13 overtime win
by Michael Hurcomb | CBSSports.com
(12/1/13) The Vikings defense made a late stand Week 13 vs. Chicago, which allowed the offense to rally from a 10-point, fourth-quarter deficit to pull out a 23-20 overtime win. Chicago finished with 480 yards, including 135 rushing.

The Vikings defense held Chicago to a pair of first-half field goals, but got burned in the third quarter by Bears receiver Alshon Jeffery, who had touchdown catches of 46 and 80 yards. Bears quarterback Josh McCown had a productive day, totaling 355 passing yards.

The Vikings finished with four sacks and forced one turnover on a fumble. The Vikings are back in action Week 14 at Baltimore.
