Big plays continue to lift Vikings' DST

by Chris Towers | CBSSports.com
(12/7/14) The Vikings DST unit continued their strong play in Week 14, in a 30-24 win over the Jets.

The Vikings defense actually struggled against a sluggish Jets offense, surrendering 410 yards of total offense. However, they forced two turnovers, including a 27-yard interception return for a touchdown to open the game, their third DST touchdown in the last two games. They added three sacks to finish the game with 15 Fantasy points in the overtime win.

The Vikings have been racking up big plays lately, and have 39 Fantasy points over the last two weeks. They will look to keep things rolling in Week 15, with a matchup against the Lions on the way.

Big plays on special teams carry Vikings to win

by Chris Towers | CBSSports.com
(11/30/14) The Vikings DST unit made a huge impact in Sunday's game, scoring a pair of touchdowns in the first half of a 31-13 win.

The Vikings defense largely limited the Panthers offense throughout the game, but the biggest impact came on a pair of blocked punts in the first and second quarter. The Vikings picked up each for touchdowns, which helped put the game away early. The Panthers ended up with 348 yards of total offense, while the Vikings forced one touchdown and sacked Cam Newton four times.

The Vikings DST unit came away from the game with 24 Fantasy points, their best showing since Week 8. They should have a good chance to keep the good times going in Week 14, with a matchup against the Jets on the way.

Vikings' pass rush disappears in loss

by Chris Towers | CBSSports.com
(11/17/14) The Vikings couldn't slow down a struggled Bears defense in Week 11, a 21-13 loss.

Coming off a blowout loss to the Packers, the Bears offense found some success against the Vikings defense, racking up 468 yards of total offense. The Vikings allowed three passing touchdowns, but limited the damage otherwise with two interceptions of quarterback Jay Cutler in the win.

The Vikings DST unit ended up with 6 Fantasy points, and snapped their streak of games with at least four sacks in the loss, as they failed to record a single one. They will try to bounce back, but have a tough test ahead of them in Week 12 against the Packers.

Vikings pass rush keeps it up in win

by Chris Towers | CBSSports.com
(11/3/14) The Vikings DST unit couldn't quite keep up their strong recent play in Week 9 against the Redskins, but they more than held their own in a 29-26 win.

The Vikings finished the game with nine Fantasy points, despite allowing 26 points and 347 yards of total offense, largely thanks to a dominant pass rush. They sacked Robert Griffin III five times and forced one interception in the game.

The Vikings pass rush has carried the defense recently, as the team has 20 sacks over the last four games. They are averaging 15.5 Fantasy points per game in that span, heading into Week 10's bye.

Vikings pass rush dominates in loss

by Chris Towers | CBSSports.com
(10/19/14) The Vikings DST unit continues to turn their season around, as they racked up 18 Fantasy points in a 17-16 loss to the Bills in Week 7.

The Vikings relied on a healthy pass rush that made up for the 373 yards of total offense allowed. They sacked quarterback Kyle Orton six times and picked him off once, while adding three fumble recovered in the loss.

The Vikings had just one double-digit Fantasy point effort in the first five games of the season, but now have two in a row. They will look to extend the streak to three in Week 8 against the Buccaneers.
