Saints take advantage of Bears' mistakes in win

by Chris Towers | CBSSports.com
(12/16/14) The Saints defense, one of the league's least effective units this season, got some help from Jay Cutler in a surprisingly stout showing in Week 15's 31-15 win over the Bears.

The Saints racked up 19 Fantasy points in the game, their best showing of the season, thanks to three Cutler interceptions. They held the Bears to just 278 yards of total offense as well, while also sacking Cutler seven times in the win.

The Saints DST unit has recorded double digits in Fantasy points just four times all season, and they could struggle to do so again in Week 16 against the Falcons. The Saints had just 3 Fantasy points in their Week 1 matchup with Atlanta.

Saints PK Graham makes one, misses one in Sunday loss

by Marty Gitlin | CBSSports.com
(12/7/14) Saints placekicker Shayne Graham blew a 42-yard field goal attempt in the second quarter Sunday against Carolina, but it wouldn't have mattered in a 31-point defeat.

Graham did nail a 41-yarder in the third and boot through his lone extra point attempt.

Saints can't slow Steelers down late

by Chris Towers | CBSSports.com
(11/30/14) The Saints DST unit struggled mightily again in Week 13, a 35-32 win over the Steelers.

The Saints gave up three touchdowns to the Steelers in the second half, while surrendering 538 yards of total offense. They did come away with a pair interceptions in the game, however, while sacking Ben Roethlisberger once.

The Saints DST unit has failed to record double digits in Fantasy points in each of their last four games, though they could end that streak in Week 14 with the Panthers on the schedule. They registered their best game of the season, an 18-point showing against the Panthers in Week 9's matchup.

Saints DST continues to struggle

by Chris Towers | CBSSports.com
(11/25/14) The Saints DST unit's struggles continued in Week 12, as they fell to the Ravens, 34-27.

The Saints allowed the Ravens to rack up 449 yards of total offense, and could have been in for an even worse night, if the Ravens hadn't failed to score on two of their four trips to the red zone. The Ravens still managed to drop 34 points on them, though one score came on an interception return by the Ravens defense.

The Saints forced one turnover in the game, and ended up with just 3 Fantasy points, their second game in a row with that total. The Saints have failed to reach double figures in each of their last three games, a streak that could continue in Week 13 against the Steelers.

Saints can't slow down slumping Bengals

by Chris Towers | CBSSports.com
(11/17/14) The Saints DST unit fell apart in Week 11's 27-10 loss to the Bengals at home Sunday.

The Bengals offense had one of their best games in weeks against the Saints, racking up 405 yards of total offense in the game. The Saints failed to record a single turnover, and sacked Bengals quarterback Andy Dalton just once in the loss.

The Saints defense has had moments of greatness this season, and were averaging 11.8 Fantasy points in their previous four games, so hopefully this is just a bump in the road. Their next game is set for Week 12 against the Ravens.
