(12/6/13) Several factors have contributed to the Browns DST slipping from a favorable Fantasy unit earlier in the year to an unusable one in Week 14 at New England.
The most glaring is their red zone defense, which ranks 30th in the NFL. The Browns have yielded 20 touchdowns in 34 opponent visits inside the 20.
Another is the sudden lack of a pass rush. The Browns featured a sack-happy defense through much of the season with a balanced attack, but they have just two sacks in their last three games.
Lastly, they're tired. When Josh Gordon doesn't make a play on offense, nobody does and the result is frequent three-and-out possessions that have the defense on the field too much.
Playing the Browns DST against Tom Brady and an offense that has found itself would not be smart. Keep them on your bench or waiver wires this week.
