Texans end disaster season with solid showing on D
by Chris Towers | CBSSports.com
(12/29/13) The Texans' season mercifully came to an end in Week 17, with a 16-10 loss to the Titans.

Facing a backup quarterback, the Texans defense held its own for much of the game. The Titans were forced to kick three field goals in the game, and managed just 311 yards of total offense. The Texans' defense did a solid job, but also forced just one turnover and had only one sack, as they lacked in big plays.

The Texans had a disastrous season on both sides of the ball, despite the talent on hand. This DST unit was one of the lowest scoring in the league this season, and will be considered a low-end Fantasy option next season.

Fantasy owners should avoid Texans' quarterbacks
by Chris Towers | CBSSports.com
(12/28/13) Despite being less than 24 hours away, the Texans still don't seem to know who will be starting at quarterback for Week 17 against the Titans.  If Case Keenum is healthy enough to play through a right thumb injury, he will; unfortunately, Keenum is listed on the injury report as questionable for Sunday's game.

If Keenum cannot game, the team will likely turn to Matt Schaub, though neither is a particularly strong Fantasy option against a solid Titans passing defense. Though Schaub did rack up 25 Fantasy points against the Titans in a Week 2 matchup, only one opponent has even reached 20 against the Titans in 14 other games.

Given that we don't even know who will be starting, the Texans' quarterback situation should be considered toxic. Against a tough matchup, Fantasy owners should steer clear in Week 17.

Texans come up empty
by Nando Di Fino | Senior Fantasy Writer
(12/22/13) The Texans sacked Peyton Manning once in Sunday's 37-13 loss to the Broncos. They failed to intercept a pass, didn't force a fumble, and gave up over 25 points for the fourth consecutive game.

The Texans now have just four sacks over their last four games, and have forced one fumble in their last six.

The Texans face the Titans in Week 17. When the teams first faced off, in Week 2, the Texans scored 12 Fantasy points, their second-highest total of the season.

Texans DST not a great start this week
by Nando Di Fino | Senior Fantasy Writer
(12/19/13) Even if you were unabashedly optimistic about the Texans -- they have a great pass defense and J.J. Watt can always cause some trouble -- their Week 16 matchup against the high-powered Broncos offense makes starting them a very risky move.

The Broncos not only have a quarterback looking to shatter the NFL's single-season passing record, but they have a major chip on their shoulder after sputtering on Thursday night against the Chargers. The Texans, meanwhile, adept as they are at limiting passing yards, only have three sacks over their last three games, and have intercepted just six passes all season. They've also allowed 25 or more points in each of thier last three games, and in six of their last seven.

The Texans have a solid pass defense, but that hasn't translated to Fantasy success this season. They can be left on the waiver wire in most formats.

Texans defense can't stop surging Jaguars
by Chris Towers | CBSSports.com
(12/6/13) The Texans DST unit put up a disappointing performance against the lowly Jaguars in Week 14 Thursday, in a 27-20 loss.

The Texans limited the Jaguars to just 281 yards of total offense, but were unable to keep them out of the end zone when they got close. The Jaguars scored three touchdowns in the game, by taking advantage of short fields thanks to turnovers and penalties by the Texans. The Texans pass rush managed to bring Chad Henne down just once, and failed to force a turnover in the loss.

The Texans DST unit had much more success against the Jaguars two weeks ago, so this was certainly a disappointing outcome for Fantasy owners. Things won't get any easier in Week 15, with the Texans set to face the Colts.
