|Texans force four turnovers in Week 2 win |
|by Igor Mello | CBSSports.com|
(9/14/14) The Texans had another field day in Week 2 against the Raiders, forcing four turnovers in a 30-14 victory.
Kareem Jackson and Brooks Reed each came down with interceptions. Johnathan Joseph and D.J. Swearinger each recovered a fumble. Houston limited Oakland to 364 yards of total offense, 263 of which came from the aerial attack.
The Texans will travel to New York for a Week 3 showdown against the Giants.
|Texans give up yards Week 1, but hold Redskins to one TD |
|by Michael Hurcomb | CBSSports.com|
(9/7/14) The Texans defense had a bend-but-don't-break mentality during a 17-6 win Week 1 against the Redskins. While Washington put up 372 yards, including 131 rushing yards, Houston allowed just one touchdown -- a 1-yard run by Darrel Young in the second quarter.
The Texans also forced two fumbles and had three sacks. And it wasn't just all the defense Sunday. The special teams unit also got involved.
Defensive lineman J.J. Watt blocked an extra point, and Alfred Blue blocked a punt in the second quarter, which he picked up and ran in for a 5-yard touchdown.
Though, it was not all good news for the Texans defense. They lost rookie Jadeveon Clowney to a knee injury and it appears he's going to be out for a while. NFL.com reports Clowney is slated to miss 4-6 weeks due to a torn meniscus.
The Texans are back in action Week 2 at Oakland.
|Texans end disaster season with solid showing on D |
|by Chris Towers | CBSSports.com|
(12/29/13) The Texans' season mercifully came to an end in Week 17, with a 16-10 loss to the Titans.
Facing a backup quarterback, the Texans defense held its own for much of the game. The Titans were forced to kick three field goals in the game, and managed just 311 yards of total offense. The Texans' defense did a solid job, but also forced just one turnover and had only one sack, as they lacked in big plays.
The Texans had a disastrous season on both sides of the ball, despite the talent on hand. This DST unit was one of the lowest scoring in the league this season, and will be considered a low-end Fantasy option next season.
|Fantasy owners should avoid Texans' quarterbacks |
|by Chris Towers | CBSSports.com|
(12/28/13) Despite being less than 24 hours away, the Texans still don't seem to know who will be starting at quarterback for Week 17 against the Titans. If Case Keenum is healthy enough to play through a right thumb injury, he will; unfortunately, Keenum is listed on the injury report as questionable for Sunday's game.
If Keenum cannot game, the team will likely turn to Matt Schaub, though neither is a particularly strong Fantasy option against a solid Titans passing defense. Though Schaub did rack up 25 Fantasy points against the Titans in a Week 2 matchup, only one opponent has even reached 20 against the Titans in 14 other games.
Given that we don't even know who will be starting, the Texans' quarterback situation should be considered toxic. Against a tough matchup, Fantasy owners should steer clear in Week 17.
|Texans come up empty |
|by Nando Di Fino | Senior Fantasy Writer|
(12/22/13) The Texans sacked Peyton Manning once in Sunday's 37-13 loss to the Broncos. They failed to intercept a pass, didn't force a fumble, and gave up over 25 points for the fourth consecutive game.
The Texans now have just four sacks over their last four games, and have forced one fumble in their last six.
The Texans face the Titans in Week 17. When the teams first faced off, in Week 2, the Texans scored 12 Fantasy points, their second-highest total of the season.
