Justin Brown gets first-team reps
by Dave Richard | Senior Fantasy Writer
(8/7/14) Steelers receiver Justin Brown has quietly been making a name for himself through the spring. This week he started taking first-team reps, working in the slot in place of Lance Moore, the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reported. While rookie Martavis Bryant got a little bit of work with the starters before getting pulled, Brown stayed in and spent a lot of time catching passes from Ben Roethlisberger.

Brown's height (6-foot-3) and experience in the slot at Penn State (before he went to Oklahoma and played on the outside) are giving him an advantage in the race to land prominent playing time this season.

Steelers unveil initial depth chart
by Igor Mello | CBSSports.com
(8/3/14) The Steelers released their initial depth chart on Sunday, just a few days before their first preseason game against the Giants.

At wide receiver, the listed second-year pro Markus Wheaton as the starter opposite of Antonio Brown. Lance Moore is listed as the primary backup to Wheaton, andJustin Brown is the primary backup to Brown.

At running back, the team listed newcomer LeGarrette Blount behind Le'Veon Bell, followed by Dri Archer and Tauren Poole.
Justin Brown not a 'spring mirage'
by Larry Hartstein | CBSSports.com
(7/27/14) Steelers second-year receiver Justin Brown, who "turned enough heads" to get some first-team reps at OTAs, showed on the first day of training camp "that he wasn't a spring mirage," reports the Pittsburgh Tribune Review.

The 6-3, 209-pounder out of Oklahoma "continued to impress with acrobatic and hard-to-make catches," the report said. "At one point, [quarterback Ben] Roethlisberger praised Brown after adjusting a route to make a catch."

With Pittsburgh's receiving corps lacking pedigree behind Antonio Brown and Lance Moore, Justin Brown is squarely in the mix for snaps.

Haley confident in Steelers receiving corps
by Jamey Eisenberg | Senior Fantasy Writer
(6/24/14) The Steelers lost Emmanuel Sanders and Jerricho Cotchery this offseason as free agents, but offensive coordinator Todd Haley is confident in his group this year, reports ESPN.

In losing Sanders and Cotchery, the Steelers have to replace 1,342 receiving yards and 16 touchdowns, which could be hard to do.

"It's as deep a group as I've been around from top to bottom," Haley said. "I think some guys that are pretty good football players probably won't make the team."

The Steelers have Antonio Brown as their No. 1 option, and Markus Wheaton is penciled in as the other starter. Lance Moore was signed to take Cotchery's role as the No. 3 receiver, and rookie Martavis Bryant is competing with Darrius Heyward-Bey for the No. 4 spot. Justin Brown is also in the mix for a role.

Steelers take long look at Justin Brown
by Dave Richard | Senior Fantasy Writer
(6/16/14) Receiver Justin Brown landed first-team reps with the Steelers offense in their most recent OTA, the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review reports. Brown, who is 6-foot-3, spent all of last season on the practice squad but got the chance to work with quarterback Ben Roethlisberger this offseason and lined up all over the field with fellow first teamers Antonio Brown and Lance Moore.

"Justin is doing some great things," Roethlisberger said. "I just like that he keeps working to get better and every day you see improvement from him."
