Chiefs tight ends on brink of breakout?
by Dave Richard | Senior Fantasy Writer
(5/27/14) Chiefs general manager John Dorsey believes second-year tight end Travis Kelce will emerge this season. Kelce missed most of last season with a microfracture procedure on his knee.

"[T]he emergence of a Travis Kelce being able to stretch the field as a tight end, hopefully that weapon adds another element to the passing game," Dorsey told TheMMQB.com. "We took some nicks at the tight end position last year."

But he's not the only one. Chiefs coach Andy Reid spotlighted second-year tight end and former hoops player Demetrius Harris as a potential contributor this year.

"I'll tell you, he's a football player right now," Reid said when asked if he was still a basketball player. "I think this camp was great for him. I thought he played exceptionally well. He's so big and he's worked so stinking hard in the weight room, he's been living in there with Barry (Rubin) this offseason and you can tell. You can see he's gotten stronger."

Harris is 6-foot-7 and 230 pounds -- perhaps more following his offseason workouts.

Chiefs fill out practice squad
by Larry Hartstein | CBSSports.com
(9/1/13) The Chiefs signed the maximum eight players to their practice squad: safety Malcolm Bronson, offensive linemen Tommie Draheim, Matt Reynolds and Rokevious Watkins, linebacker Darin Drakeford, wideout Frankie Hammond, tight end Demetrius Harris and fullback Toben Opurum.
Reid talks up rookie TE Harris
by Dave Richard | Senior Fantasy Writer
(5/31/13) When asked by the media Friday to talk about a player who has stood out through the Chiefs' OTAs, coach Andy Reid singled out undrafted hoopster-turned-tight end Demetrius Harris. "Harris has done a nice job," Reid said. "He came in as a basketball player and has just gotten better and better every day. You see him out here making plays. ... I’m proud of him for the way he’s worked, that’s not an easy transition. ... We saw the athleticism. John Dorsey, that was his guy and he saw the ability there. He had been a real good high school receiver so you bring him in and give him a shot. That’s what those are all about -- those tryout positions. He came in and stayed in and made the most of it so far."
