Chiefs TE Demetrius Harris has foot surgery, misses practice

by Jason Butt | CBSSports.com
(5/26/15) Chiefs tight end Demetrius Harris underwent foot surgery and missed Tuesday's OTA practice as a result, according to the Kansas City Star

Harris previously endured a procedure on his foot, though the grafting process that normally takes place following it did not occur. Therefore, a second surgery was needed.

Harris is expected to be ready to go by the time training camp comes around.

“We knew there was a possibility of this happening,” Reid said. “They want to try it without the graft initially, but we feel pretty good that he’s going to be OK.”

by Igor Mello | CBSSports.com
(3/7/15) The Chiefs have tendered tight end Demetrius Harris on Saturday, according to the Kansas City Star.

Harris worked behind Travis Kelce and Anthony Fasano, and had his 2014 rookie season cut short in November due to a broken foot. The 6-foot-7, 230-pound pass catcher came down with just three receptions for 20 yards before the injury.

(11/10/14) Chiefs coach Andy Reid told reporters Monday tight end Demetrius Harris did not play in the Week 10 win at Buffalo because of a fractured foot he sustained during pregame warmups.

Reid added that they expect Harris to be out for at least a few weeks.

In eight games, Harris has three receptions for 20 yards. Reid indicated

Chiefs backups don't do much Week 2

by Chris Cwik | CBSSports.com
(9/14/14) The Chiefs backup pass catchers couldn't do much Week 2 against the Broncos.

Anthony Fasano was the most impressive of the bunch, hauling in three passes for 39 yards. Junior Hemingway caught 2 passes for 21 yards during the outing. Both A.J. Jenkins and Donnie Avery each caught three balls, but gained 16 and 14 yards respectively.

Tight end Demetrius Harris pulled in one ball for 10 yards. Running back Cyrus Gray didn't have any catches, but carried the ball twice for 8 yards.

They'll take on the Dolphins Week 3.
