(6/26/13) Browns rookie free-agent Ausar Walcott was arrested Tuesday and charged with attempted murder after allegedly punching a man outside a gentlemen's club in New Jersey, the Bergen County Record reported.
Following the incident, the Browns released Walcott on Wednesday.
Walcott, 23, has been accused of punching a man in the head around 3 a.m. ET Sunday, according to police detective Andrew White. The victim, 24-year-old Derrick Jones, was taken to the Harlem Hospital Center in Manhattan, where he was listed in critical condition Tuesday, the paper reported.
Walcott turned himself in to authorities Tuesday morning and was charged with first-degree attempted murder, second-degree aggravated assault and third-degree endangering an injured victim. He was expected to be sent to Passaic County, N.J., jail Tuesday night, and his bail was set at $500,000.
Walcott was signed by the Browns on May 13 as an undrafted rookie from the University of Virginia.
