by Scott White | Senior Fantasy Writer (2:11 pm ET) Falcons defensive back Thomas DeCoud suffered a head injury on a touchdown run by the Packers' Eddie Lacy in the first quarter Week 14 at Green Bay and was ruled out for the rest of the game. Zeke Motta took his place in the lineup. DeCoud had two tackles, including one solo, before leaving.
DeCoud, who ranked among the league leaders with six interceptions last year, has zero in 2013.
Sean Weatherspoon active again
by Scott White | Senior Fantasy Writer (12:19 pm ET) Falcons linebacker Sean Weatherspoon is active for Week 14 at Green Bay despite being listed as probable on Friday's injury report. He was limited in practice Wednesday by a knee injury but was able to practice in full Thursday and Friday.
Weatherspoon missed seven games earlier this season with a foot injury. He has averaged 6.7 tackles in three games since returning.
Falcons defense might do OK
by Scott White | Senior Fantasy Writer (12/4/13) In terms of Fantasy production, the Falcons have the worst defense in the league. They just gave up 31 points to Buffalo without recording a sack or interception and have given up at least 30 points in four of their last five games. They rank second-to-last in the NFL in sacks, third-to-last in takeaways and fourth-to-last in points allowed. They're bad, by any measure.
But in Week 14 at Green Bay, they have a chance to be not so bad.
The Packers rank in the middle of the pack in terms of Fantasy points allowed to DSTs, but much of that came when quarterback Aaron Rodgers was healthy. Though Rodgers hasn't been ruled out for Week 14, he's looking unlikely to play in the game, which would put the responsibility again on Matt Flynn. Flynn led the Packers to only 126 yards of offense Week 13 at Detroit. He was sacked seven times and committed three turnovers.
Granted, Flynn has been better at times, but it's pretty clear that with him under center, the Packers are a poor offensive team. So poor that you'll want to resort to the Falcons DST?Probably not. But in an especially deep league, you could do worse.
Falcons DST struggles against Buffalo Week 13
by Chris Cwik | CBSSports.com (12/1/13) The Falcons DST had a tough time Week 13 against the Bills.
Atlanta has typically been vulnerable through the air, but the Bills were able to destroy them on the ground. C.J. Spiller managed to find his form, picking up 149 yards on 15 carries. He, Fred Jackson and EJ Manuel all scored rushing touchdowns against Atlanta. The team allowed at least 30 points for the sixth time this season. Though the Falcons had no sacks and no interceptions, they were able to force turnovers when needed. The team forced two turnovers late in the game, including one that led to the game-winning field goal.
The Falcons will take on the Packers Week 14.
Falcons DST facing favorable matchup Week 13
by Chris Cwik | CBSSports.com (11/27/13) The Falcons DST is looking at a favorable matchup Week 13 against the Bills.
Buffalo has allowed opposing defenses to post 10.18 Fantasy points per game, which ranks in the lower-third of the league. The revolving door at quarterback has allowed defenses to take advantage of the Bills. The team has really struggled with protection of those quarterbacks, allowing 32 sacks this year. They've also fumbled the ball 20 times, which is one of the highest rates in the league.
The Falcons have not been a particularly strong defense this year, ranking 29th in team defense. They've been susceptible in the passing game, giving up 23 passing touchdowns through 11 games. On top of that, they've also allowed eight rushing touchdowns, so they've struggled in both phases. Though the team has a good matchup, it's tough to trust the Falcons DST any week.
