Panthers swap defensive tackles on Monday

by Igor Mello | CBSSports.com
(12/15/14) The Panthers announced a couple of roster moves following a Week 15 victory over the Buccaneers. The team waived defensive tackle Micanor Regis and signed defensive tackle Kyle Love, according to the Charlotte Observer. Love started 24 games for the Patriots from 2011-12.

Panthers DST has one of its better games

by Scott White | Senior Fantasy Writer
(12/14/14) The Panthers DST had a strong showing for the second straight game Week 15 against Tampa Bay, only this time it was halfway expected. After allowing 10 points on 310 yards to the Saints in Week 14, the Panthers allowed 17 points on 281 yards to the Buccaneers. They had three sacks, two fumble recoveries and one interception. The three takeaways were the most they've had in a game since Week 5.

The Panthers DST finished with 15 Fantasy points on the day, as many as it scored against the Buccaneers in Week 1. Clearly, it can hold its own against them, but it has been a mostly unpredictable unit in Fantasy. Going against the Johnny Manziel-led Browns in Week 16, who were just shut out by the Bengals in Week 15, the Panthers DST is worth a shot in Fantasy, especially since it's on a nice run currently.

Panthers DST surprises at Saints

by Scott White | Senior Fantasy Writer
(12/7/14) Coming off a rough stretch of games, the Panthers DST looked like it'd be a non-factor in Fantasy again Week 14 at New Orleans. After all, the Saints entered the day ranked second in yards per game and seventh in points per game and scored 28 points on 375 against the Panthers in Week 9 -- and on the road, no less.

But the Panthers limited the Saints to just 10 points on 310 yards in this one, and they did it without the benefit of a bunch of big plays, recording two sacks and an interception and recovering a fumble.

With the performance, the Panthers DST has some momentum heading into Week 15 against the Buccaneers. It's a favorable matchup to begin with, but let's not forget the Panthers had a strong showing at Tampa Bay in Week 1, limiting the Buccaneers to 14 points on 264 yards.

Special teams struggles sink Panthers

by Chris Towers | CBSSports.com
(11/30/14) The Panthers defense largely held the Vikings in check in Week 13, but the special teams fell apart in a 31-13 loss.

The Panthers limited the Vikings to just 210 yards of total offense, and the Vikings scored just two touchdowns offensively. However, the Panthers failed to record a single turnover and surrendered two touchdowns off blocked punts, while recording just three sacks in the loss.

The Panthers' defense actually played pretty well Sunday, but the special team's miscues were too much to overcome. The Panthers DST unit came away with 7 points Sunday, and will like struggle again in Week 14, with a matchup in New Orleans on the way.

Panthers DE Charles Johnson dealing with upper respiratory flu

by Igor Mello | CBSSports.com
(11/28/14) Panthers coach Ron Rivera told reporters defensive end Charles Johnson is dealing with an upper respiratory flu, which has him designated as questionable for Week 13 against Minnesota. Per the team's official website, Rivera remains hopeful he'll play on Sunday.

Johnson has registered five sacks and two forced fumbles through his first 11 games played.
