Redskins DST struggles again

by Chris Towers | CBSSports.com
(11/17/14) The Redskins DST unit came back from the bye week rested, but didn't look improved much in a 27-7 loss to the Buccaneers.

The Redskins defense allowed 20 points, with one of the Buccaneers' touchdowns coming on a pick-six. Washington's defense surrendered two long touchdowns in the game, and failed to come up with many big plays of their own, finishing the game with just one turnover and two sacks forced.

The Redskins defense had consecutive double-digit Fantasy scoring games in Weeks 7 and 8, but has just 8 points in two games since. They may have trouble getting back on track in Week 12, with the 49ers on the schedule.

Redskins come apart in loss to Vikings

by Chris Towers | CBSSports.com
(11/3/14) The Redskins DST unit put together a couple of solid performances in a row heading into Week 9 against the Vikings, but couldn't keep it up in a 29-26 loss Sunday.

The Redskins gave up 352 yards of total offense and lost the game on the strength of three second half rushing touchdowns, and they failed to do much to slow the bleeding. The Redskins failed to force a single turnover in the game, and had just two sacks in the loss.

The Redskins DST unit had 26 combined Fantasy points in the team's previous two games, so this was a let down against an inferior foe. They are on bye in Week 10, but could have a good chance to bounce back when they return in Week 11 against the Buccaneers.

Kirk Cousins among Redskins players inactive Week 9

by Michael Hurcomb | CBSSports.com
(11/2/14) Redskins quarterback Kirk Cousins, wide receiver Aldrick Robinson, running back Silas Redd, cornerback Greg Ducre, linebacker Jackson Jeffcoat, guard Spencer Long and tackle Tyler Polumbus were among the team's inactives Week 9 at Minnesota.

Redskins put the pressure on

by Scott White | Senior Fantasy Writer
(10/28/14) The Redskins DST had one of its best performances Week 7 against Tennessee, but that was mostly because the Titans couldn't move the ball with backup Charlie Whitehurst under center. It faced a much tougher task against Tony Romo and company Week 8 at Dallas, but thanks to an unexpected pass rush, the Redskins DST ended up with 13 Fantasy points in standard CBSSports.com leagues for the second week in a row.

The Redskins recorded five sacks, as many as in their previous three games combined, and recovered two fumbles, one each by running backs DeMarco Murray and Joseph Randle. They limited he Cowboys to 17 points on 390 yards.

The Redskins are now tied for ninth in the league with 21 sacks, but of course, 10 of those came against the Jaguars back in Week 2. Despite impressing the last two weeks, they haven't been so reliable on defense this year. Still, with a favorable matchup Week 9 at Minnesota, the Redskins DST might just be worth a look in Fantasy.

Redskins' Orakpo to miss rest of season due to pectoral injury

by Michael Hurcomb | CBSSports.com
(10/20/14) Redskins coach Jay Gruden announced Monday linebacker Brian Orakpo will miss the remainder of the season due to a pectoral injury suffered Sunday against the Titans. Rookie Trent Murphy will replace Orakpo in the starting lineup.

Gruden added Orakpo didn't suffer a fully torn pectoral muscle, but it was torn enough to require surgery. Orakpo finishes the season with 24 tackles (14 solo), one pass defense and 1/2 sack.
